I’m also a little surprised McGinn got that red. It was horrendous, but I expected a yellow and a lecture. It’s nice to know you can’t just cynically hack someone to death as long as it isn’t studs up.

Put the longer official footage in the post above, its definitely a pen imo. If that was a Liverpool player fouling a City player in a title decider then it would be given.

It’s a nailed on penalty, unless kung fu kicks are now part of the game.

I think it's a pen, but I also think it's way more LOL people calling that it's rigged / would have been given the other way etc etc etc.

I would be mad if arsenal didn't get a penalty for the high foot by doku. One of those penalty box rules apply I guess.

I don’t mind it but it’s the precedent that gets me. The Curtis jones red earlier in the year we knew there was 0 intent and it wasn’t a bad tackle but a freeze frame on the dudes shin made it a red. If that’s a red this is a pen and sending off as well. VAR just makes **** up and has no standard

IDK that penalty could have gone either way, but I also think if it happens in the 35th minute no one (other than plop fans) would be talking about it.

The trossard haul down was more of a pen than the doku thing TBH.

These teams are so much better than the rest of the league going to be an insane run in. Any dropped points will feel like the end of the world.

I think arsenal are the best team but have the toughest schedule. Liverpool are the weakest of the 3 (not by much) with their injuries but they are built to batter bad teams/have the softest schedule. City in the middle, but they seem more vulnerable and not as good as historical pep city sides.

Whoever gets/stays healthy probably gonna win as all 3 teams have some depth issues IMO.

That is *literally* the point of the rule though. To make it super costly to commit a foul in the penalty area, to encourage attacking play / goalscoring.

There are degrees of fouls. The most serious warrant a card.

What I'm suggesting is for the de facto rules to be codified so we all know where we stand, and de facto isn't that shirt pulling receives the same punishment in the pen area as in the centre circle. We know this is true just by reading threads like this.

Yes and what we're saying is that this is an inconsistent application of what the rules say. You want the rules changed, that's a perfectly valid opinion, but until they are any foul in the box should be a penalty.
