Ukraine-Russia War Take 2
Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:
The site was hit with a massive spam attack wher
It's a common way of making fun of Putin. Just a coincidence.
Ya the war is great for Ukraine
Pointing out the absurdity of Russians invading Russia today along with the absurdity of the "3 day SMO" and the absurdity of "Ukraine is actually Russia" does not mean that "war is great for Ukraine".
I'm struggling to think of any examples where getting invaded by a much stronger, much larger military was "great" for a country.
hence my sympathy for Zelensky who is really in a mess.
Really interesting
OK, play it out far enough then I guess you can see instances where that's the case. It could be the case for Ukraine even.
In case anyone is still under the impression that Putin was ever sincere about peace:
Phone call between Zelenskyy and Macron when the invasion started
Medvedev most virulent rants against the west apparently very precisely correlate with Tuscan wine shipments to Russia
Unfortunately due to USA aid being blocked, we get to test the previous threads competing theories.
Theory 1: Putin is not trying to kill civilians, if he was he'd be killing far more.
Theory 2: Putin is absolutely trying to kill civilians, but western air defenses are largely preventing him.
(For whatever reason things like Mariupol and other flattened cities were already being ignored and only current casualties were deemed as appropriate evidence.)
you know what Israel calls that? a slow day.
What purpose does that comparison serve?
Also for what it's worth, this is one city of multiple which were attacked.
chilling wapo article on the slave soldiers of Ukraine
Things I've learned on visiting Planet Vic: Conscription in time of war is slavery and 'shrooms are a helluva trip.
yes ofc conscription is slavery

Conscription is literally slavery, you can then decide there are emergencies in which slavery is justified (I tend to tirreni but why not discuss it).
At least this is the libertarian position
Ofc it's a form of slavery which tends to be better than many others:
1) it's temporary
2) you don't lose all your rights
3) you can't be sold
But if women forced to be prostitutes for the militaries were considered (appropriately) sex slaves, then conscripts are military slaves
roving bands of kidnappers are hunting people off the street to force to murder each other. sounds a like like slavery to me.
ya things in the 90s were so democratic in Russia

Yeltsin literally bombed the parliament.
and, no election interference.

In a total shock result Uncle Vlad wins the election by a landslide.

Spoiler
Even if the election was fair Putin still would have won.
