Exactly. Medical standards of care are things that medical doctors should determine. The example of when parents and doctors DISAGREE and courts have to intervene isn't comparable to one where supportive parents and doctors and children all agree on the best standard of care for a particular medical issue, related to trans people or not. But at no point in this does the opinion of pierre poilievre matter. Or you or I for that matter.
So in cases where some doctors vehemently disagree with other doctors , we allow everything on that matter, you just pick the doctor you want?
Why do you think any consensus exists among doctors for giving puberty blockers to kids with a gender dysphoria diagnosis? because it doesn't exist any such consensus.
I think when we are talking severe permanent damage at the very basic minimum 95%+ of doctors in all first world countries should agree before we even consider doing that, to otherwise healthy kids.
Uke imagine a political white supremacist party has many doctors among it's rank and file members.
Those doctors start claiming that some very very risky drugs are to be given to black kids to heal them from blackness.
Is there any point where you would stop believing doctors have a right to decide there? if so why , given it doesn't appear you accept the ideas that some doctors can be in fully complete bad faith for political reasons?
The idea that politics has to abdicate on every matter where "experts" exist is folly .
Very few things in society are technical enough that you can rely on experts the same we do for engineering.
In most cases at the very least you have tradeoffs, and tradeoffs are the essence of politics.
In the "trans youth care" example, at a minimum the tradeoff is between increasing the well being of actually trans kids that can then skip puberty toward a body they don't feel as theirs, and non-trans kids (or trans individuals who would be fine without transitioning) that end up severely damaged by taking those drugs.
How many actual trans kids living a tad better are worth a ruined non trans ? how can you claim that this decision is not a political decision and that doctors should decide here?
Notice how the above accepts for the sake of argument that the actual trans kids live better with puberty blockers, which is absolutely not a given

As well Saskatchewan is now breaking the law by not collecting and submitting GST on natural gas though are they really not tracking it? . The sadness is that the Supreme Court should be able to review their decision on the carbon tax. As before the Liberals argued it applied to all CDN's and was fair . Now we can see that is not true when we see the political carveout for home heating oil
