Grimstarr has AQ again
Friendly live 0.50/1.00 home game. Match the stack. Villain is rec very splashy sometimes has shown up with strange holdings doing things that don’t make much sense but also has shown me goods when I kept him honest light in all in pots too. He’s in for 100 I cover. He may be up couple bucks but relatively close to 100 start of hand.
I open AQo (no spade) to 3 in utg 7 handed. Host calls on button. Villain 3 bets to 6 from BB. I lol and call. Host calls. 3 to flop of As 8s 3x.
He checks I bet 8.50. Host folds. Villain calls.
Turn 6x (no BDFD I think)
He checks I bet 31.25 he calls after a pause.
River 9s (3 to flush)
Villain leads 44 leaving himself with barely 10 left.
I ask him “wanna run it twice on this river and replace it with a different river?” He instantly snaps a hard “NO”. I tank and tank and clock may have even been called on me. His line looks pretty Valuey going c c. C c. Bet less than half pot leaving some crumbs leftover.
Seen this guy stack off QQ v me on K high board to my KKK in 4 bet pot long ago which was quite spazzy and seen him do some other spaz stuff in past too but usually in smaller pots and usually more so fishy light call downs than aggressive spazzy

disclaimer: I'm a losing player so you probably should ignore me, but for discussions sake...
Depending on game I might 4bet V pre since I have position and am not sure what the min raise shenanigans are about.
flop and turn seem standard to me
on river I think I fold, unless I have a read that V reads me as too tight/weak to call the bet when flush comes, in which case I call just to prevent getting bullied too often and file the info away for future hands
- V line looks like a flush draw to me given check calls and pause on turn when the bet got bigger
- A836 don't feel like cards that connect heavily with the preflop min raise (except maybe AK?), and min raise feels a little "ooo suited"
- I'd not expect AK to check and potential give free cards to flush draw on the way in.
- Snap NO to run twice feels like flush
- crumbs left on end push me towards it looking like value
It definitely feels like flush. You over bet the pot on the turn, so in these cases in a home game you want to get in someone's head and point out how dumb their call was. Then say that you're not going to pay off their stupid play and fold.
Is this game profitable to you? It seems very strange to have a match the stack (that easily gets people in 1k quickly) yet it's only a $1 big blind with people caring about a $3 raise.
Didn’t overbet turn
AA crossed my mind but bLoCKerS, was one V cards Ks?
Dont feel super surprised by bluff, but looked more flushy imo, and I'd have expected a bigger raise from KK pre. I wonder if turn pause was "hmm theres p an ace here but if spades come I can bluff" and V just called for flush draw else would have check/folded non-spades.
do you think next time you call in that spot then? or is it leveling into "V knows i folded last time, so its probably value this time, so I fold?", at which point I start to feel like its just coinflip personally and call just so I don't get the "always folding rep" with V
If you 3b pre with spades wouldn’t you cbet your flush draw?
Haven't read anything beyond first post but I would 4bet pf. As played I'm calling river because his not going all in feels weird to me.
if you read results 4bet pre = bad, call river ap = good
ive seen him make a spazzy 3bet before in a blind v blind or button resteal type of situation but in the dozens of sessions i've played with him i've never seen him make a lite 3bet from BB versus an utg open in a 6+ max game
I read the spoiler already, but I was going to say call. Ace of spades is out there, reducing his flush combos.
Not going to fold for less than half pot on the river.
Ugh I didn’t get exact HH kind of guessed most of the board #s. Say tho the ace wasn’t spade and something else was. Lean more towards fold?
if he's gonna play super tricky you shouldn't take this line
If he is going to play tricky OP should take this line but be prepared to call down, obviously on the flush completing not much we can do but if it was rainbow and just a lead it’s a snap call, I’ve seen this same exact play at 1/3 on non flush completing boards lol (I actually guessed KK :p)
