5-10-20 is this a straight up punt?
5-10-20, 6 handed, table is quiet but decent, mostly recs that are shortstack and one other bad pro
Utg raises to 60 (450) a bad loose agressive rec, been losing all night seems tilted
Lj calls 60 (680) 40 year old whale, vpips 80% passive but fast plays all his big hands (wont slowplay) not much info on his river plays
I have Qs2s (cover) in the straddle and call
Flop As7s8c (195)
I x, utg bets 75, lj calls, i call
Turn As7s8c 6c (420)
I x, utg bets 100, lj calls, i call
River As7s8c 6c6h (720)
I x, utg looks done with the hand and checks, lj bets 175 and has 280 more behind. I cant think of much value besides 6xss and i think he just jams with 6x , so i jam hoping he is on a bluff, punt or ok?
Edit: saw whale 3bet AJo vs utg a few hands before so he doesnt have any big A in his range. Whale has been losing slowly and looks tilted so might overbluff some spots.

Yes its spew. Fold preflop. Even getting a price this is a bad hand to call with.
LJ is a whale, he might call on the end with any Ax, plus he can have straights, 6x, maybe decides he knows your bluffing w 8x and calls.
He is going to be getting such a great price at the end he will literally probably have zero folding range

He doesnt really slowplay flop or turn so any 2pair+ im pretty sure he wouldve raised on that board especially vs utg weak sizings.
If were were in the BB facing a raise, I would fold in a heart beat of course but since we straddled to 20, and it's 40 more to call with a whale in the hand, I can see why hero was tempted to call pre. It's obviously a fold, but sometimes when we're in certain games (where we quadruple up if we hit a flush), it might be worth gambling 2x more of our original wager.

The question is really about the river, He just bet 175 into 720 with 280 behind (literally crumbs). We have like zero FE vs all of his range, except a pure bluff so yes the bluff was a big punt (congrats if he was bluffing and folded though).
Yes. Close thread.
Yeah, I wouldn't do it. He can just be trying to eek out some value with any Ax. Pot is massive and our raise size is tiny.
Pre is close. Is there rake? To give you an idea, in GTO Wizard 6 handed with straddle and antes (very low rake), at 25 straddles, if HJ opens min raise and button calls, Q2s is a pure call. So is 42o and A3o. But the 3x raise makes it a little different. The whale is nice, but at this relatively low SPR facing a lot of hands that are way ahead or dominating us, it's pretty meh. Our ability to out play our opponents and the chance of them making a huge mistake for a lot of BB goes down at shallower SPRs. Multiway makes it very difficult too.
This is pretty bad. Im check jamming turn to rep the straight if i wanted to bluff (but i doubt that works either, whale probably calls) , definitely not gonna try to bluff the passive whale who just bet. Also obviously fold pre.
Also, youre 60 BBs deep and straddling to 30 bbs deep?

I had 3k , others had 2k , bad pro had 7k, just these 2 recs were short
Thank you for the replies. I thought it was a good opportunity to do a cheap bluff since he didnt have much behind and his value range seemed narrow. I guess i was wrong.
Don’t call raises against guys with 22 and 34 BB’s when you have Q-hi.
