2024 NFL Off-season Thread
:(
Highest I've read is Giants at 6, like last week. Kinda amazed. But these articles... who knows what is true.
It's all gamesmanship. McCarthy will go later, just hopefully not Will Levis later.
vikings for sure.
i'm usually highly skeptical of QBs coming out of powerhouse programs when they benefit from strong olines and playing with leads, but i'm ok with it if they trade their two 2024 firsts to get him. sometimes you have to gamble. more likely than not he busts, but as an armchair amateur who has watched all of 3 michigan games and 1.5 hours of his highlights/breakdowns, i see potential.
also who doesn't want to hear broadcasters say "JJ connects with JJ!" 8x per game?
yes, hope the new kickoff rule gets adopted for the upcoming season
also, happy to see that the rules have changed so that a team gets a third challenge if one of the first two is successful
it will be interesting to see how teams scheme against a new and unique situation
seems rife with trap opportunities
one strategy
if they change the kickoff rule this pretty much seem necessary.
IMO if Daniels gets to 3 and a team offers a huge number of picks, the Pats should trade out. If it’s Maye at 3, they race to the podium
Daniels has bust written all over him IMO. 1 read and run QB who was average for 4 years and only got better once he was older and physically superior to his opponents and had years more experience.
if daniels indeed turns out to be a bust, washington is a lock to pick him then, no?
saw daniels a bit while he was in the pac 12, he's different from joe breaux
durability is definitely a question
He was also coached by Herm Edwards and Marvin Lewis, so there’s that.
as if herm coached anything at all while there
Touché
If Washington picks daniels and he’s snap fed to the wolves I think he busts
If the Vikings move up to get him and Darnold plays a few games I think he’s a franchise qb
Daniels is basically fields 2.0 if you’re not careful. And I say this thinking his upside is better than caleb’s

It’s funny, I’ve always believed this is the metric qbs should be graded on
So ****ing rare that a qb is actually capable of going through progressions and in the nfl the ability to do so is so so so much more important than their physical attributes
Kaep for example. Maybe the most physically gifted qb the Niners have had in the last 30 years, completely incapable of a second option. Out of the nfl near instantaneously despite playing in a Super Bowl
Bork, the one thing that gets me rock hard about him is his ability to see the field. 7th round pick cuz unathletic bozo
We really do fixate on the wrong things
i predict at some point in his career daniels will suffer a non-playing injury that results in multiple missed games

Definitely very different from Burrow and I don't believe Daniels will be nearly as good. But Burrow also had 4 pretty mediocre college seasons. Before his last year at LSU I think he was projected to get drafted around the 5th round. So dismissing someone because their senior season was their only good year doesn't really work.
Here you go.
So Arthur Blank says he doesn't think the Falcons tampered with Kirk Cousins.
After Cousins said the following at his intro:
"When you get here and you look around and you think, boy, there's great people here," Cousins said on March 13. "And it's not just the football team. I mean, I'm looking at the support staff, meeting, calling yesterday, calling our head athletic trainer and talking to our head of PR, I'm thinking we've got good people here.
Might be smart for teams to not schedule those news conferences right the minute the new league year starts..

wait. what are you saying led to Kaep leaving the NFL near instantaneously?
Even if Kaep weren’t a massively polarizing societal figure his days as an nfl qb were finished
The guy could barely keep his job against Blaine Gabbert
The kneeling and political grandstanding kept him from being a backup anywhere cuz no backup is worth the optics of pissing off that side but if he had starter equity he had a job. Look at Rodgers
ahhh ok
so his talent level didn't lead to him leaving the NFL near instantaneously
for a second there it appeared that that was what you were saying
thanks for clarifying
I mean rodgers is by far a bigger net negative to humanity at large but he’s a HOF talent so we put up with his bullshit while people like me pray he ruptures his Achilles drive one of the season again cuz I didn’t cum enough when it happened last year (sorry Roy and mclovin. Not remotely sorry at all blahblah)
Calling it like I see it

If you are going to throw Godgers in with Kaep for saying polarizing things you also have to include OBJ since the most controversial thing Godgers said was essentially suggest Covid has no shot to kill or seriously hurt him since he is a fairly young professionally athlete - which of course he was correct about.
Beckham told reporters. "I don't think COVID can get to me. I don't think it's going to enter this body. I don't want no parts of it, it don't want no parts of me. It's a mutual respect."

Why do you think he’s a net negative for humanity?
Wishing a player to get hurt that hasn’t murdered or raped anyone makes me feel bad for you.
On one hand I knew the Rodgers batsignal would draw someone out
On the other
