2024 candidates thread
Seems like fairly good odds on Nakamura (although agree with Fabi having the best chance of winning).
Naka has not lost a
Chatted briefly with vrael and we are doing 190 vs 1k as per his offer.
also i vouch for mclovin.
also i'm excited to hopefully win 960 dollars.
I have received $190 from tuma
Hikaru is going to crumble under the pressure yet again.
Alireza has the talent to win it all, but does he have the requisite maturity? This is what we will find out.
Hikaru's record in classical lately is nuts. No losses last year or something crazy like that. Hikaru being retired has an advantage over a lot of guys, in that he can just play for pride and content, and isn't on the grind.
But I think there's a big question of how hungry he is. He's happily married and doing well without needing to maintain anything to pay the pineapple bill.
received 1k from vrael
all funds are escrowed
if both sides agree on a winner I will ship funds to winner
if there is no agreement, I will do my best to determine the outcome and bring on the advice of mclovin who I know has a strong chess background unless one of you objects to that (if you do then please decide upon which 3rd party I shall consult in the event the winner is unclear to me - doubt this will happen, this seems pretty straightforward just want to have all bases covered)
glgl, let the match begin
I'm just hoping one of the Botez sisters wins
We should've included a clause that if Abasov won the bet is off, lol.
I'm already planning my victory lap 😀
Nonzero chance Hikaru reads this thread. I'd say the odds he has a 2p2 account are a near lock.
Same old pineapple.
Aaand it is off. Go Fabi!
I'm getting a growing impression, watching various analyses and interviews leading up to this tournament. Nobody wants to come out and SAY it, but they think Nepo got a little lucky getting in against Ding, and that he blew it on the spot.
And now everyone (even Hikaru who entertaining the idea that he could win it all above) chomping at the bit to take down Ding.
And Ding hardly playing, and when he does putting up stinkers like he did at Wijk an Zee, isn't putting anyone off of that.
lol becoming world champion a fraction of a reach as streaming
He even listed the number of 5million reached LOL. Think of all of the unborn Indian chess fans who will never watch a Hikaru stream, but will revere the next world champion. Plus the rest of the world. It's like 100x.
I'm skeptical Indian chess fans will fawn over Hikaru the way they did their national hero Vishy.
where can i bet upon one of the boti shipping this?
What the heck was Praggnanandhaa doing yesterday lol, that was embarrassing. Most overrated overhyped player ever. Back to farming Indian 2450's for rating i guess.
