fun fact, South Carolina has a higher 3p% than Iowa
that's gotta suck to be Van Lith.. like you allegedly are sick and getting IVs before the game and your coach is just like, "hey, we have no absolutely game plan for the greatest scorer in our sports history. we dont want to get our star tired by guarding her, so you just go out there and try to guard her yourself. oh and we aren't even going to hedge on screens. have fun!" and then you just get predictably torched and twitter just says your trash all night.
It's not even like LSU did a "shut down everybody else on the team and see if CC can beat us single handedly" strategy
They played her 1-1, which CC will beat 100% of the time, then sent help late and let CC throw dimes left and right. She finished with 12 assists, and the rest of the team shot 50%. It was like the worst of both worlds strategy. You let CC cook you and you also let everybody else get involved and have a great game. Should've either tried to shut down CC, plut flau'jae on her and blitz every screen, or just let CC cook and hope she gets tired and go at her every play on offense and put her thru a million screens until she is on ball every play.
Bluder coming out in that hilarious zone was almost as bad a of a decision. I think LSU scored 2.0ppp against that zone with a 100% oreb. As soon as they switched to man and let O'Grady d up Reese 1-1 they did fine. I think I said it ITT before, but Stuhlke has more skills so she does better against the bad teams but against Reese or Cardoso I think you just need to have O'Grady out there defensively and on the boards or else you just get eaten up
this guy is so made wow lol:
those drop coverages are absolutely wild
lol
Wow. I guess something can stop UConn.
maybe a stupid question but why are Clark, Reese going to the WNBA? This isn't like the NBA where you wanna get a 4/50 deal to start things off and then start the timeline on your way to a 5/220 deal.
Don't they make a ton of money in NIL that will dry up? and WNBA players don't make that much.
They are legit stars in CBB, millions watching their games, I just can't see that translating to the WNBA.
How much do they make now in college?

NIL deals just turn into endorsements that pro athletes always can get. So don’t think they’ll lose much.
Caitlin makes over $1M as I’ve read and don’t see why St Farm, etc won’t keep paying her. Plus she’s already set those scoring records and Iowa is losing a few players to graduation so likely their team prospects will fall. Back to back Final 4s probably didn’t leave her much to prove, so why take that Covid year?
Counterpoint, the entire WNBA season had 36 million viewers last year, with an average of a little more than 600k.
The LSU/Iowa game had 12 million viewers and peaked at 16 million.

I think this is largely it. The slightly more complicated version of this is that the University of Iowa between alumni and other residents in the state has a larger pre-existing fan base than probably every WNBA franchise combined. Those Iowa fans are the ones who first started hearing about Caitlin, rooting for her, going to games, going to away games, watching on TV etc.
From that platform, and because she's playing in a tournament that already has other fan interest from other colleges, and is on at the same time of year when people are already preconditioned to "This is the time of year we watch college basketball"... All of these reasons has led to her becoming a massive star and drawing huge interest.
I think it's a lot harder to convert people in Indiana (her presumed landing spot) to become Indiana Fever fans than it is to convert Iowa Hawkeye fans of other sports to become Iowa Hawkeye Women's Basketball fans. I'm sure if she starts making WNBA finals, those ratings will increase compared to other WNBA finals without her playing, but I don't think that translates to continued huge interest in her regular season games.
Magic (The Gathering) Johnson dealing dimes in the paint. ISU gonna put this away now

Funny team. Play super physical and hard sometimes then just disappear and quit other times. Season on the line in BET, they were absolutely pathetic against St. Johns. Looked like they didn't even want to be there.
That win against UConn was a lot to do with Clingan picking up 2 fouls in the first half then getting hurt beginning of second half.
Tominaga went super saiyan in the three point shootout.
Then they abandoned any pretense of fairness by having Bryce Drew judge the dunk contest his kid was in
Remember though, he's just tall!
This is the most excited I've ever been to watch the women's final four.
