Joe Kinnear dead. RIP.

It's been a **** season, but Arblaster is going to be something special. That we'll probably sell the first time someone offers us a packet of Space Raiders

How was Maddison not sent off?

by rickroll k

thanks for putting me on to this, that is a FIFA goal!

You don't have to worry Leiscester will go up - the bigger thing for this thread is we need Southampton to go up and they are crumbling. Regardless if we somehow secure the qualifying promotion spot the manager has to go. He isn't good enough. Team selections have been all over the place and we should have got at least another defender in January as our defending has been shocking.

Should be noted that Harvey's penalty was way less a penalty than Jesus yesterday.

This might be the most mental thing you've ever said on here lol.

I’ve watched absolutely **** all of the championship, but what happened with Leicester? They seemed to be cruising to the title 10 weeks ago and now have a bit of heartburn to finish it off

haven't watched but it's been an epic collapse, i bet them around -500 or so during super bowl and that was major value at the time

they've outright lost like half of their last 10 games or so

Why are the games today at such ****ed up times?

The games that would have been at 16.30 in the past that get moved to 15.30 now are having their ko times changed due to the police requesting it. Seems to be the ones where they think there's a higher chance of trouble around them.

I think it was actually because the Spurs game was supposed to be on Monday night but had to be moved forward a day because of train strikes.
The Man Utd game was originally scheduled for 4.30 but they moved it to allow a 6pm fixture to be shown after.

Don't particularly want to link the sun but here are some cites about the police asking for the ko time to be moved on some. idk about the spurs game and yesterday specifically so fair enough.

Another -2 for the Ev.

What's the ******g point? Another weak and meaningless punishment.

How on earth is it meaningless?

Because it might move them a couple of spots down the table, it's not going to relegate them or stop them getting a top half finish.

It could absolutely relegate them. They're only two points away from the relegation zone now.

The panel obviously can't decide on the punishment to inflict the maximum amount of pain. But docking a team between 5-10% of their likely points total is not meaningless at all, particularly if it's a team battling relegation.

As much as I would love to see Everton go down (and Luton to stay up) they play Brentford, Forest, Luton and Sheff Utd in their last games so I can't see it happening

Counterpoint - if they lose those games, lots of their rivals will gain points!

Does anyone know what the PSR rules actually are, beyond the headline £105mil figure?

BBC article says Premier League is disputing that interest costs on the stadium which Everton have capitalised shouldn't apply to PSR which strikes me as odd.

Just been having a conversation in the boozer about the run in and then looking at it I can't believe City are +150 and have piled on

because it doesn't instantly keep Burnley up obvs

No championship team wants Everton to go down

I support a championship team and would be utterly delighted if Everton got relegated

Don't be stupid, nothing is going to keep Burnley up. Hopefully Luton stay up at Everton's expense but can't see it.

Why not? That's exactly what they should be doing, there should be serious consequences for cheating.

Relegation battles are always tight so having points deducted could absolutely make the difference.

Will be interesting to see the repercussions on player contracts if either Forest or Everton are relegated. I can imagine a scenario where players try to void their contracts or not have relegation salary reduction clauses kick in, as they will quite rightly argue they earned enough points to stay in the PL.

Because these processes are subject to legal challenge (as Everton are currently doing) and as a result have to be in keeping fundamental principles like necessity and proportionality.

Although we see slightly different punishments between Everton and Forest, the idea is to work out something like a standard punishment (think of it like sentencing guidelines in the criminal justice system) and then go from there, either adding for bad behaviour (like Everton lying about their accounts) or reducing for other factors (like having already been punished once, or being transparent from the beginning).

What you cannot do is say "Everton done bad, let's work out the exact number of points that will make them feel the most pain." Any appeals board would throw that out immediately.
