Well in any case, landing in San Antonio was a great outcome. Detroit / Charlotte / Portland could have played out a bit different.

As a current TX resident, the buzz is that Wemby arrival might keep the Spurs in San Antonio. Current owner has been signaling a move to Austin for a couple years and was pushing for new stadium money downtown next to the Alamodome. Gov wasn’t going to pony up since they sucked, but it’s a lot more likely with the French Freak arriving.

It’s kinda crazy San Antonio kept a team this long. Would never have happened if not for their success.
