Yes, lotta variance can still happen in 38 games and can be hard to sort signal from noise in over/under performance when there's lots of confounding variables season to season.
Trying to explain this concept to my dad who just can't get it, then he instantly will bang on about how we lost 3 nil and yet we're the better team.
Massive facepalm.

explain that when refs make some bad decisions against your team it can turn a bunch of wins into draws, and push you down the table in totally undeserved fashion.
this works on all dads, as each and every dad swears that there is an organised ref conspiracy against their team, undeservingly costing them 3 or more wins a season, and would pass a lie detector test after being jabbed with truth serum on the matter

Sure, but with all the discussion of variance the original take that started it, that AFC are the fourth best PL team, has been lost somehow.
Much less variance in 76 games than 38, and frankly most of that VARiance has been anti arsenal.

Don't think too many rational people think Arsenal are anything other then 2nd, maybe 3rd best team in the Prem the last two seasons. I personally think they've been *the best* for large parts of this year.
Are you a dad per chance?
Ya I thought it was pretty clear that gram was referring to villa as the 4th best team. Which like ya that seems right.

Southampton promotion bid is proceeding.
Happy st. Arseninghams week lads

Losing to Bayern so Spurs don't get the fifth Champions League place, masterful gambit Arteta
No cup replays from round one onwards next season, disgraceful
Narrowest of quarter final exits against a CL giant is pretty much par for the project this season I think. Confirmed one of Europe's top 8 clubs.
Sours going to sour as usual though.
Italy are all but assured of one of the two extra places after the strong performances of their clubs in Europe this season, with the second coming down to a fight between England and Germany.
The pendulum has swung in Germany’s favour, particularly after Bayern Munich progressed into the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Arsenal. Borussia Dortmund had gone through on Tuesday, getting past Atlético Madrid, while City came up short against Real Madrid, losing on penalties.
Clubs score two Uefa coefficient points for a win, one for a draw and nothing for a defeat. Penalties are not taken into account, meaning City scored one point for the “draw” after 120 minutes against Madrid. There are also bonus points for getting to certain stages of competitions, with clubs at this stage getting one per round that they reach. The points from a nation are divided by the number of teams they have competing in Europe to get their coefficient average.
After Wednesday’s ties, Germany have 123.5 points for a coefficient of 17.642 from their seven clubs while England have 135 points for 16.875 from their eight. Italy lead the table with a coefficient of 18.428.
West Ham would score points with a win or draw against Leverkusen in the second leg at the London Stadium but, 2-0 down from the first leg, their hopes of progress are slim. Ditto Liverpool, also in the Europa League, after their 3-0 home defeat against Atalanta in the first leg. They are in Bergamo for the return.
Villa could be left to carry the flag for England. They are 2-1 up from the first leg of their Conference League tie against Lille. They play the second leg in France at 5.45pm BST.
.
Yeah I am curious who actually decided that. Was it just premier league clubs that voted on it? Did all clubs get to vote on it? Or was it just decided by some bro.
Premier league obviously wanted it. In exchange the PL is giving additional money to grassroots football and agreed on no league fixtures clashing with 4th round+ FA cup games.
Meanwhile in the Midland Football League, Highgate United are three points and a twelve goal differential behind the last playoff place with just one game in hand to be made up away at bottom of the league. Anyone want to have a wild guess at what the final score was?

Just looked this up. 56 attendance- quality lol
Fools and Spam are out, Villa the only ones through.
I guess that's it for a 5th PL CL spot.
