Shogun new limited series starting Feb 27

not a direct answer to the question, but kind of an explanation... click at your own risk

9 million views for the premiere which is a new record for Hulu. Good to see so many people watching because it’s great and we need more shows like this.

I think the show is really incredibly well produced. E1 and part of 2 were a little confusing but seems to have settled in nicely.

I particularly enjoy the attention to detail in terms of the customs and way of Japanese life while still retaining an interesting developing conflict. Really threads that needle quite well.

The British lead is meh...I can't tell what it is but his speech affect is annoying. But I like that the character tries to adjust to the Japanese rather than just be some complete buffoon throughout which it easily could have done.

Rough episode for me as it was mostly focused on the Anjin. Yabu stole the show again

Grunching (is that the word) but I know that there’s been 5 episodes so far. Is it still great? I just got a new extra monitor and I want to see what this thing can do. This show seems like a good test lol

Yeah, 2 episodes down and it's pretty amazing. Was going to bounce between this and 3 Body Problem, but I want to stick with this now lol

I've seen the first two episodes but I'm waiting for the series to finish so I can binge the rest of it.

The scene in the brothel where Mariko is translating Kiku's explanation of the Willow World was superbly written and directed. Kiku's words are actually Mariko's thoughts. Positioning the camera so you can't see Kiku while she's talking, only Mariko, was genius.

What an ending lol. I agree with the Anjin at Toranaga. Lets see whats next I guess

That ending was the first terrible thing in this show.

Was gonna say, that felt like something from the OG. I don't mind them sticking with it. Not to mention it's a weak character we lose.

I thought it probably was, but the show is still awesome and that one moment isn't changing that.

Honestly the moment was hilarious with the tough kid who won his only battle with the cheap shot cannon going in for the kill and slips on his skirt and breaks his own neck.

Damn, Toranaga is a bitch

Toranaga is cold as ice. Except he can be compassionate. While being ready to use any means to achieve his goals. A+ writing, performance, everything. Episode 8 was so, so good.

This was probably my favorite episode of the season. The scene with Mariko and Kata was really well acted. Seems like we are going to be left on the cliffhanger of war next episode though which is blue balls

A cliffhanger would be odd since one more episode will finish at the end of the book.

Yeah, showrunners have said the season is a complete story and there are no immediate plans for S2. Clavell wrote several other historical novels set in Asia, so maybe they'll adapt one of those. I think Shogun was easily the most successful though.
