i had live bet boston ml heavily at a very bad line late in the game from -900 to -1000 when the fair should have been around -1500 so I was risking quite a bit to pick up a little and was thus watching the final minutes intently
boston played very good lockdown d, even when Toronto was doing a good job controlling the puck in the offensive zone, they never were able to get someone open in front of the net nor able to find good shooting lanes
was a huge sigh of relief when i saw tavarez commit the penalty and shocked the refs actually called it but obv super happy about it
saw Marchand shoot and hit side of the net, was disappointed it didn't go in because i just wanted this thing iced, but then I'm watching and notice that none of the bluejays are skating back to aid bertuzzi in recovering the puck, so it's not even a defensemen in his natural habitat fighting for the puck in the corner 1v2 but a winger, pasta wins the puck, he shoots and misses too, figure oh well, but then i see still, not a single leaf is back yet, so Marchand can just casually collect it and skate it in the net - one of the biggest omg did they really just quit like that moments I've ever seen in sports
yes i get it, time is running low, they need to cycle the puck up quickly and generate chances, but at least have more than one guy back there

the entire leafs zone has only one leaf in it and he just got knocked down but pasta is not aware they haven't back checked and just flung it at the net and missed
Marchand goes to the rebound, only now are more leafs entering the screen, and none of them are doing it at full sprint
Marchand easily gets there first and with plenty of time to change direction, skate back in front of the net, and drop it in the net
was just shocking to witness, was thinking how much my youth hockey coach would have screamed and yelled at us to backcheck if my team gave up like that

Bob Cole is still by far the best and its not close. The right inflection, the right tone, the right message at the right time.
I used to love Bob Cole but that guy needs to retire. Forgets way too many names and can't keep up with the play anymore.
