1 The rest of the world looks at the US policy with slack jawed astonishment.

3. Using the idea that carrying guns can prevent the government oppressing you seems to ignore the fact that the US government controls the most effective killing machine in history

If the gvmnt makes it far easier to extract oil and gas because he cares about the price of oil and gas to be as low as possible, reduction regulation as much as possible, that would drive down the price of oil and gas.
For healthcare if the gvmnt made patents expire sooner, and nurses do more procedures only physicians can do currently, and any physician immigrating could work in the USA from day 1, those would be choices to make healthcare more affordable and they would drive prices down.

In your oil/gas examples it seems you are agreeing with me. It sounds like you are admitting that the govt has a lot of regulation on oil/gas and if they reduce those regulations it would lower the price of oil/gas prices.
Reducing the length of patents in the short-term would lower prices but you’d also have to deal with slower healthcare break thru medicines since you are reducing the incentive for companies to invest in R&D to cure diseases.
You 2nd healthcare change also seems to agree with me that the less government tries to intervene in an industry the cheaper it becomes since you are suggesting the govt should be less involved in the decision on who performs a particular task.

Healthcare costs can go up more than inflation.
That doesn’t mean the govt isn’t making it cheaper for patients than if the govt wasn’t there
Because GPS and internet are US dept of defense technologies that the US gave to everyone for free

It's not even particularly close, although a few single years here and there see more broad CPI inflation, overall healthcare costs increased a lot more than the general price index

For bahbahs clarification , I am arguing that without govt involvement , the medical costs would be even higher than they are now. Healthcare used to be even more profitable and exploitative than it is today on a profit margin basis.

Without government there is no medicaid/medicare. Anyone can "be a physician". Patents don't exist. Private insurance isn't mandated to cover the latest innovation which costs 10x and is only slightly better.

In Canada , before universal healthcare coverage , lot of Canadians couldn’t afford to go see a doctor.
