There were 0 guarantees except Putin's word. This 100% is essentially suggesting Putin can be trusted. We had several back and forth where I explained this cleary and succinctly. It doesn't get more straightforward than this.

No, I'm not saying that. Ukraine should be given guarantees so that even if Russia is a threat they can fight back. The previous peace deal went out of its way to ensure that was not possible.

I don't see any working guarantee except an american base near russian border
Nato is the best option but unlikely. Several European countries are giving guarantees to help if Russia invades again, but who knows how much that is worth.

It would have been extremely difficult. Ukraine also never had control of them despite them being in Ukraine. They were likely more danger to Ukraine than to Russia.

If you mean NATO membership it's 0.0001% chance, we already needed to give big concessions to Hungary and Turkey to get Sweden in , Ukraine is inimaginable i think.
