Got a notice from AT&T recently about a data breach, where some info was exposed. WTF? I don't have accounts with AT&T.

Turns out, it was something Mom had, and I attached my email after she died. So nothing important exposed, just an already-publicly-exposed email address.

Have noticed a jump in spam lately. I can't believe anybody falls for these things. First, the domain coming from "netflix" (or whatever) is some .shop; the content is fractured English with a 1980s-era look in terms of colors and font.

Hope nobody really gets victimized, but man, these guys aren't even trying.

There are definitely people falling for it. Same as those grandparents tricks over the phone.

(FWIW, the latter one is going to be a huge problem soon, AI is getting pretty close to needing only 15-30 seconds of voice recordings to emulate a voice)

When I get some on my work e-mail, I forward it to my security group (me and my boss and his boss) and get a good laugh about how bad it is, and question who would fall for it.

The latest batch I've received from lol Xfinity are pretty damn good fakes.

Our accounting department, almost exclusively, almost falls for the email from our president looking to have them buy him gift cards. Like they respond and talk with him to the point he asks for the gift cards.
