New Poker Room Sahara

New Poker Room Sahara

Looks like its finally happening after they announced it months ago. End of January.

The comments are funny about the crazy rendering with standing dealers and 6 max tables. lol

But looks like someone confirmed 7 tables and max rake of $4, 9 handed tables.
I would think they could get some 1/2nl going on the weekends or maybe even during the week.

Free Sandwiches?

Does Sahara still run 4 PM daily Poker Tournament ? How many runners they gets ?

I played there many times between 2006-2015. At the time it was a good tournament on the strip.

I think the daily 4 pm is crazy pineapple nowadays

Sahara has a poker room?

They do have a 1-table pineapple event most days. I played once last winter and hung about as alternate another time. It’s a poker room in crisis.Unfortunately.

Nicest room in Vegas IMO. Shame they barely have any games running.

Top tier room physically and staff pretty nice too. I like Saharas room.

Also the daily pineapple game has now shifted and it is NL Omaha!! No stuffing around counting the pot every hand

Top tier room physically...

WAT?

I don't care how a room physically is, how nice the staff is... IF NO ONE PLAYS THERE>

It’s far enough away from the strip that most tourists won’t make it there. It’s not part of a big casino group to offer any half way decent incentives. Its closest neighborhoods are basically slums.

And if locals really want to play with other locals, they’ll probably just go to Orleans.

Apparently, The room is closing in two weeks.

The Sahara went close to two days without running water thanks to a contractor busting a main nearby.

Rumor has it, guests were getting bucks of water from the pool just so they could flush their dumps down the toilet.

Ha, did the same when the same thing happened at my apartment. The pool was too far away, but we had fountains in our same building.

Yup, Nov. 16th

why wait.

Poor PMan, that was 50% of the rooms in scooter range from his dad's condo.

Sad, fond memories of the first room and its tournies.

It always makes me sad to see poker rooms in Las Vegas close, but this one is a bit more 'whatever' for me. I never played there, and they seemed to have very little traffic overall.

During my trips to Vegas I would always check PokerAtlas to see if there was any action at Sahara, but I could never find any reason to make the trek out there as they often didn't have any tables running and only a small interest list.

The room was very unlucky with the timing of their opening (February 2020), and it was obviously hard to get any traction in the following months. And once the poker rooms in Vegas were allowed to returned for business, it seemed people had forgotten about it.

I know that the original Sahara room was very popular and famous around 20 (?) years ago with some late night tourneys that got 100+ players, but that was obviously a very different time.

Biggly Meh...

if a tree falls in the middle of the forest and no one is around does it make a sound

And the crusty chips that were 90% of their original size.

Binion's chips back in the day could fit 24 into a rack, they were like discs. lol

The location is horrible. The rest of the casino doesn’t get much foot traffic so it would surprise me if the poker room regularly got busy.

I went a few times over the last year, mostly for nostalgia's sake. My first few Vegas trips after college we always stayed at the Sahara and would play the cheap daily tournament that provided sandwiches on the first break as our first meal of the day before heading out.

All 3 times I went the dealers were friendly and fast, but ran a really sloppy game. Enough so that there was some sort of altercation that made me feel uncomfortable each session. The floors always seemed overwhelmed trying to manage 2+ tables and never did anything except ask (ASK not DEMAND) that one of the players threatening bodily harm to the other to switch tables.

No tears will be shed.
