THE Official 2024 PGA Tour Season Thread
I don't have a fancy OP or anything. But now that we are in 2024, and are back to calendar schedules instead of the reach-around schedule, its time for a new thread.
I read an article today about many of Sam Snead's victories being dubious in that they were unofficial at the time, exhibitions, 4-man fields, impromptu team games, and some other stuff. Tiger's the man on the 82 tie thing. All his are heavyweight wins ... and if you added in some of his off brand wins he's way out in front.
Tiger's 82 is far and away stronger than Snead's, just based on strength of fields if nothing else.
Zalatoris withdraws from Byron Nelson to rest his back.
He still does with 18 of those professional majors. :p
Tiger fans should want it this way because then he would only be 2 behind, 20 to 18.
They’ve already revised Snead’s recently anyway and he wasn’t thrilled with it. Think he was claiming 89. The PGA Tour was a completely different thing back then.

I agree it should be 20 😀 Not that I care whether it puts Tiger closer or farther away from Jack, I just don't like the idea of assigning someone a major and then taking it away.
Wasn't the idea of having 4 professional majors be the ones that mattered a Mark McCormack invention anyway?
Byron Nelson odds after the Cut
You know, somehow I missed out on the Ty Cobb hit total revised recently, so that the whole Rose breaking the record event and ceremony at Riverfront wasn't even the breaking of the record. He already had it, officially now at least in retrospect, from a few days before at Wrigley. Anyway, if they can correct that record, they can correct Snead's, if research warrants it. Just saying.
If I don't order some Bibigo dumplings before this tournament is finished I'll be surprised. I feel like I'm getting brainwashed.
That leaderboard has to be trouble for ratings.
Shouldn't be any worse than expected.
the leader is throwing up all over himself on 18
Good for Canadian Pendrith but that leaderboard was trash.
Shocker guys, the event didn't exactly have the strongest field.
Pretty crushing to watch Kohles implode. Glad it was Pendrith who got it though.
Good to see Rory win, always seems like an easy to root for dude
Man when Rory gets rolling he can lap the field. Rory, Scottie and Brooks all playing well heading into next week, those 3 battling it out Sunday would make for great viewing.
It's always amazing to take in players when they're in top form or put it into high gear, just annihilate the rest of the field.
Rory, Scottie, Brooks and Rahm are those guys right now.
DJ was that guy for quite a period too. JT has had those moments.
Some dude named Tont.
sustained hot streaks forge low key legends

Ya, for the past 10 or so years there's been several players go on hot streaks, looks like they can't lose but they are never sustained. Really makes ya appreciate how dominate Tiger was and how special it was.
Looks like the PGA could be a birdie fest which is unfortunate. Tougher courses probably play more in Tigers favor.
Winner- Dechambeau
Fade- Aberg
Sleeper-Puig
I detest that so many major events have been held here simply because the PGA owned it until 2022. It's a mediocre at best venue for a major and like you said, typically a birdie fest.
not going to be a repeat performance for Michael Block
