Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
I don't really believe there is such a thing as "fair due process".
I would be happy to streamline everything and just live with the fact that 10% or so of those convicted were innocent. IMO one guilty person going free is at least as bad as one innocent person being put in prison.

No there is such a thing and due to its fallibility, it's absolutely vital that it's fair for everyone as that includes you and me as well as the worst of the worst. Yes it absolutely sucks when the guilty go free no argument there.

Due process is what is currently happening to Donald Trump. It certainly doesn't seem fair to me.
Those with no resources can already get away with anything, while poor people are almost always convicted.
Might as well lose the expensive sham and just railroad everyone regardless of their means.
I would be happy to take my chances at being one of the wrongly imprisoned to have every violent criminal permanently removed from society.
I really, really disagree. Railroading people is never a good idea. This notion is a root cause of a lot of bad policing. And railroading people justifiably diminishes public confidence and has a corrosive effect on relations between the police and the communities they serve.
It's called 'noble cause corruption', and it's not good and it just leads to overturns on appeal (even if they blindingly obviously did it, like the Bridgewater Four in England).
Having your day in court is fair. As opposed to being dragged out and shot or getting a blatant show trial where the conviction is a foregone conclusion.
But now we have blatant show trials where acquittal is a forgone conclusion.
When someone is on tape admitting to sexually assaulting teenage beauty pageant contestants, I'm fine with the immediate punishment of getting dragged out and shot.
I closed the I/P thread a few minutes ago.
I will not allow I/P discussion to be injected into ANY other thread (including this thread) without a deletion and a ban.
