Dunno what to make of Megalopolis. Looks like some sort of sensory overload mish-mash of Babylon, Blade Runner and Jupiter Ascending.

It looks like that time my tour bus broke down in Times Square in the 80s.

“Tour bus” !.? God Gawd Phat, How many drugs were you ingesting!?

Ken Kesey and friends did a famous tour on a bus in the sixties! I met a few of his Merry Pranksters years later in Eugene, Oregon. The famous bus spent years parked on his farm in Pleasant Hill, Oregon. Don’t know if it’s in a hippie museum or still rusting in a field.

The new Kong/Godzilla movie was so bad I can't believe it. I love me some Godzilla, but holy crap that was bad. Worst movie I've seen in a long time.

Watched Dune Part 2 at home this time...still amazing. Best movie of the year by far. Maybe the decade.

No idea. Somebody said, "Here, take this," and the next thing I knew I was in Megalopolis.

I didn't think it was possible to make a bad Godzilla movie. I guess that's why they had to call in the Americans. I thought the first one was OK.

I hate CGI apes and monsters. There's no drama there, no sense of reality.

It's why I don't care for the latest Planet Of the Apes movies...they dont look real. The 1968 movie or even the Market Mark one was better because you had a tors in ale costumes. Paul Giamatti as an orangutan was awesome.

Flamin' Hot was a fun, breezy movie about the janitor at Frito Lay who invented the Flamin' Hot formula. Really liked the lead guy in this. Hope we see more of him.

Anatomy of a Fall is currently my favorite from last year. Haven’t seen the other actress nominees, but Huller’s performance was Oscar-worthy. I was hanging on every word. They did a great job ratcheting up the suspense.

I agree with another poster that the French justice system is pretty wild compared to NA if it was accurately portrayed. They allow a ton of conjecture which seems like it would send too many innocent people to jail.

Good reviews coming in for Furiosa. Yes please.

And Megaopolis reviews are coming out as well. I’ve only skimmed one and it was completely nonsensical, so I’ll wait for someone on here to have seen it lol

I thought Requiem, while incredibly well made and acted, is "drugs are bad" porn. Like all of the filmmaker's movies, there is no depth beyond the obvious main theme.

I agree to an extent but I suppose I just like the movies even though I know they aren’t the best movies I watch

Mann’s movies are all porn and he’s my fav director, Tarantino’s are all that way too

ya but Mann and QT don't make you want to curl up in a ball in a cold shower.

the old lady storyline was especially depressing but man soon as I finished requiem I was just absolutely positive I was never gonna watch it again and hopefully never think about it again either.

I thought you liked modern monster movies. Aren't they all CGI at this point? Unless maybe I'm confusing you with someone else. There are (to me) a surprising number of people here who like Godzilla movies.

Yep, Requiem easily most disturbing movie I’ve seen still. Maybe because of age when I watched it, was in college and couldn’t stop thinking about it for awhile (esp old lady)

ya same and I was doing a whole bunch of psychedelics so that didn't help either.

guessing it wouldn't **** me up as much if I watched it as a square sober old man but we'll never know cuz no way in hell I'm ever watching it again.

unless of course somehow bill perkins reads this thread n decides he wants to make another laughably -ev prop bet n pay me a whole bunch of money just to make me suffer.

BOY I SURE WOULD HATE THAT.

I love Godzilla lol...the Minus One movie was fantastic...and maybe CGI Godzilla looks better because he's not based on a real animal, like King Kong is. CGI apes do not look real at all.

We had this discussion a few years back about the most disturbing movies ever, and I am with the consensus (of yesteryears) that it is Martyr and A Serbian Film and perhaps Irreversible as well.

https://thecinemaholic.com/best-disturbi...

Henry: Portrat Of A Serial Killer was thoroughly grim and depressing. The group of young lads a few rows in front of us clearly went along expecting to see some blood flowing hilariously, but soon fell silent. A disturbing but good film.

On the subject of drug addiction, I saw Christiane F as a teenager and it was an overwhelmingly bleak experience.

A Serbian Film is beyond ****ed up. There’s a certain beauty in Requiem, but I’d definitely never watch A Serbian Film ever again.

Enter the Void was pretty damn disturbing [SPOIL]especially the end where a baby's birth is filmed from it's perspective being born from his sister [SPOIL]

Salo is quite disturbing. So is Martyrs. A Serbian Film is so over the top silly that it's hard to really take it seriously. But after watching the Guinea Pig movies as a teenager, that pretty much numbed me to everything that came after lol.

Requiem is very bleak, but I don't think it's any more disturbing than several other movies dealing with the same subject matter. Also, one thing that always bugged me was that they always had that shot of their eyes dilating whenever they took heroin. Seems like a very weird thing to get wrong.

Past Lives is still my favorite movie from last year.

I completely agree. I don’t know if I’ve ever posted about a movie on social media before but it was worth it for the 4 people that liked my post.

Can't think of a more melancholic movie
