Crown Casino (Melbourne, Australia)

Crown Casino (Melbourne, Australia)

I recently spent a week playing tournaments at Crown Melbourne and played some cash games, when I was trying to find information on the poker games I found limited info so I figured I would post my newfound knowledge! I only played up to 5/10/20 NLHE and PLO.

Limits:
1/2-2/5 are always running and often at least one 5/5+ game. Limits 2/3 and lower are probably not beatable due to the rake.

Rake:
1/2 - $5/hr + 10%/$8 - $80 max buy-in. Don't play this.
2/3 - $5/hr + 10%/$8 - $200 max buy-in. Don't play this.
2/5 - $10/hr + 10%/$6 - $500 max buy-in.
5/5/str - $25/hr - $1000 max buy-in.
5/10/str - $25/hr - $2000 max buy-in.
5/5/str PLO - $25/hr - $1000 max buy-in.
5/10/str PLO - $25/hr - uncapped buy-in.

The 5/5+ games have live straddles and often get placed by all players when agreed upon.

Other games:
There were a few other games running during my stay at various times: 1/2 plo, 10/20 limit omaha, 20/40 limit omaha/hold-em, 25/50 plo, 100/200 plo.

Hope this helps!

2-3 NLH turbo returns next week, Mon-Wed only at this stage, $200 flat buy-in.

rake?

I’m guessing same as 2/5 and 5/10. 10% to $25 max. But I would not bet my house on that. Could be worse, might even be a little better.

Crown Resorts to slash 1000 jobs (mostly in Melbourne).

The chief executive said the restructuring was due to softer economic conditions and gambling restrictions. The challenges at Crown reflect greatly reduced foreign tourism, a sharp decline in local workers in the city centres, and restrictions on gaming play in Sydney and Melbourne.

https://9news.com.au/national/crown-reso...

In poker-specific news, Crown have added more games to their list (check Cash game list below). On the board right now is 2/5 NLHE/PLO mix (interest).

https://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/casino...

10/20 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo
20/40 Limit Hold’em / Omaha
2/5 NLHE / PLO Orbits
5/10 Two Card Manila
5/10 Three Card Manila
5/10 H.O.R.S.E.

Other than NLHE/PLO mix, the chances of the other games getting up is slim. They have to train up some dealers first. HORSE could run if a group confirm in advance they can get 7-8 players.

Man how come they’re rolling out Manila and not Big O or pineapple. Smh

At least they’re bringing in new games, I’d play NLHE/PLO for sure

The HORSE game looks like it will be limit too?

Of course HORSE is limit, you usually have to get to an 8-game mix to introduce big bet games.

NLHE/PLO should be very popular but the AM last night was being a dick. Constantly on the mic saying it needs to get up so the bosses know there’s interest, if it doesn’t run it might never be offered again. Cry me a river, it’s a Tuesday night. At 6pm there wasn’t even one table of 2/5 PLO running. Run the mix from Thursday to Saturday and it will definitely get up each night.

Some people are just silly. This weekend it should get up for sure

Another CPS, June 5-10, sats from June 1.

https://crownmelbourne.com.au/casino/off...

CPS schedule released (June 5-10)

Satellites now from May 27.

Six events including a Teams event, $1500 Main Event and a $5k high roller.

I wonder if Crown might schedule a larger event in January to attract internationals, maybe not the Aussie Millions just yet, perhaps that could wait until January 2026.

^ insane rake for a 1k event, you guys put up with that sh*t post-covid? And the hour restrictions etc

I guess yall say "it's all we got now here in melbourne....."

Isn't that the standard rake these days in Aus for $1500's? I don't think the hour restrictions apply for tournaments either. Ain't defending any of it just saying.

Margo’s kitchen is closing down after Sunday night, the café will remain open, but no more meals. Crown is getting smaller by the day.

Bit like this thread. Do you realise, of all the people who posted in this thread, since it started, to the Covid Big Bang, YOU are the only one left. Last of the Mohicans.

I checked the post histories of contributors for the first 35 pages. (Bored Sunday, waiting for the Hawthorn game to end to collect the $$$) Most last a few months, some 3 years, very few last a decade. The halo always slips; bravado migrates to absentia.

Traffic decline within Australia-centric threads within 2plus2 reflects the bigger picture. Players can't sustain continual losses and drop out, they move to other interests, and the increasing rake is fatal. [To think - people used to complain of $8 cap+ $5ph. Luxury]

The $25 @ Crown may not last. They may retreat to $20, or heaven forbid, back to the pre-Covid $15, if the keep-it-alive philosophy returns. (But never 24/7 operations). Need a raft of efficiency improvements though - the managers smart enough to analyse and implement, may have moved on.

I don't know who you are, but I would know you by sight. Conversely, you would never pick me, but would definitely know me by sight. I have worked out on few in here. (I could tell you about the first time I sat on a table with 6betme already seated, the welcome 'greeting' he tendered, and the price he paid for it, but that's another story).
The only one I would like to have worked out was the notorious SupremeGentlemanPoker from YouTube (he has wiped all his Vlogs though) - very funny and entertaining young man. Whilst on YouTube, the Vlogs from MEL, BNE and SYD regs were a godsend, when your paths eventually crossed, and they had already pre-filled you player database form for you. Easy money playing exposed egos. (And for well over a decade I played everywhere in Oz/NZ -160 days per year. Many in MEL & BNE thought I lived locally due to frequency, but I lived in another state altogether)

Tears in the rain.

I’d hate to have shares in Crown, they should just shut down. Would be awesome if the stupid government would allow legal poker rooms to operate, but they care about responsible gambling while pokie venues in every suburb rip millions of dollars every year from people that actually can’t afford up lose a few thousand dollars.

PS: good win to the Hawks, might even win their next 4 games

Played the turbo opening $550 last night - fairly big crowd, was like 200+ players with like 25k up top - busted after the 2nd break. Rego booth was stupid crazy - they had to open another booth to accept registrations because of the line.

Once again I asked about results and was told it's coming - it's getting ridiculous now that it's been this long with nothing online yet getting told repeatedly that it's coming? Is it or is it not?

I joined the new facebook group they have but nothing is getting posted in there - not even payouts or even anything for the opening event. How hard is it just to AT THE VERY LEAST post the results for their first event on it. Starting to think it's just laziness at this point.

Crown is self-imploding. For the past hour, loud static has been coming through the overhead speakers, sounds like fireworks. It’s just relentless. They’re handing out earplugs to anyone that wants them. We also had some Latin fellows banging drums in Fidel’s but that’s over. I’m regretting leaving the house.

what were the numbers like for the CPS ME?

what were the numbers like for the CPS ME?

I played flight 1 (did no good) - was 130 entries for that. Came in on the Monday and saw the total players was 319 so means they would of gotten 189 for flight 2. Paid top 35-36? With like 100k up top.

Looks like they've started posting the series results on their facebook group - nothing on the website yet

I think we have seen enough from the current management that they will not send results to Hendonmob, which is the most important place for results.

PS: good win to the Hawks, might even win their next 4 games

If Hawks didn’t choke against Port, they would be 6th right now, They still have games against WC, Richmond and Norf to come.

Hawthorn’s first 7 games: 1W 6L
Hawthorn’s last 7 games: 6W 1L

Daniel Hachem heads up in one event and James Obst in another.

Hachem 4:5 in $1500 NLH/PLO
Obst 2:1 v Volpe in 10k Stud

They put the results on the crown website now.(only July tournament results at the moment)

Looks like some movement on the Hendonmob! My scores are up so I'm happy - I asked last Friday and was told all results have been sent out but might take some time as it's like 200 tournaments they've ran

You’re right, CPS results up, and 2023 regular tournaments:. What’s missing: 2024 regular tournaments. Probably coming soon.

If I’m being pedantic, and I am, they should remove the 2020 VPC which did not run.
