THE Official 2024 PGA Tour Season Thread

I don't have a fancy OP or anything. But now that we are in 2024, and are back to calendar schedules instead of the reach-around schedule, its time for a new thread.

this course sux

hopefully the last major golfing event held here

It's nothing special sure, but it seems to always produce drama. It's shaping up to an entertaining Sunday.

my son, bro d'estrogen shall bully
professional golfers with bramble words for only so long
eventually you have to back up the click-clack of your mental spikes while drinking chablis

shockingly the incompetent police either did not have bodycam turned on or threw the footage away after they knew it made them look bad. Guess its going to be Scottie's word vs the word of some moron who decided to get in a wrestling match with a moving vehicle, pretty easy choice of who to believe.

Gonna need that cop to arrest Morikawa and Xander sometime between now and tomorrow. Maybe they won't take a day for it to actually affect them.

not having his caddie probably just as big as a factor as anything to explain SS's performance yday

So, two choices......

1. There was a misunderstanding and Mr. Scheffler has been released with no charges at this point. We are reviewing the whole incident.

or

2. We are going to hit him with several charges.

It seems to me, without having a clue what happened, that the department went all in.

Which, until shown otherwise, leads me to believe they are confident that Scheffler's actions were both illegal and dangerous.

PS. Just because he a nice guy, that doesn't mean that the almost automatic sense

by Hellmuth was right k

if only we had some evidence that this was one of the most corrupt police departments in the country:

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-d...

this is the same police department who murdered an innocent woman (Breonna Taylor) in her sleep, covered it up, paid out a $12M lawsuit, got investigated by the DOJ, found guilty of excessive force, unlawful searches and numerous other civil rights violations. its far from a

If only the law worked that way.

"Your honor, my client was charged by a police force that is known to have corrupt elements. We'd like a dismissal of all charges please..."

As I said, (I could very well be wrong), the top brass had to know about the spotlight they were under after realizing who they cuffed and brought to the station. Someone up the chain decided not to go the "misunderstanding" route, or even the "person involved has been released but charges may still be pending" route. But no, they charged him, and pretty substantially.

So what now? Are they going to walk back and say he was wrongly cited on every charge ?

My guess is there won't be a trial, and there will be some agreement with maximum face saving on both sides. As in, Scotty admits he inadvertently did something wrong, and some of the more serious charges have been dropped, and he will do some community service blah blah..end of story.

Scotty has been consistently using "inadvertent" when talking about the "confusing" and "chaotic" situation....

cops are well known for doubling and tripling down when they are in the wrong, this is not a new phenomenon. They suffer zero personal consequences for exaggerating, misrepresenting or straight up lying about what happened so there is no incentive for them to ever do anything else besides double down.

well the public opinion seems to be about 95% on the side of Scottie and 5% on the side of the police so there is only one side who is trying to save face here and that is the police who have already cost their city tens if not hundreds of millions in revenue by never getting to host a major championship again. My guess is that all charges will be dropped in exchange for Scottie promising not to sue the city. Guess we'll find out in 2 days.

was actually further away than i thought (5' 2")

I guess I'll do great betting against Scheffler. I took him over today and he needs 66 to beat me, bogeys first hole and is romping toward 66 or 65 I guess.

da'shambro best strat is to putt from off the green
he's had a handful of rather atrocious putts within distance

I've predicted he won't have longevity on some kind of wild intuition, but he acts like a GOAT candidate. Automatic sick rounds and shots, like a robot. Not sure I've seen a robot like this. Hmm. Tiger was obviously greater but was all over the place not this kind of automatic machine.

you can't spell par without Morikawa

is xander about to pound the forehead of another fairway bunker?
