2024 NFL Off-season Thread
:(
it's got to be a win that Jordan's out of the Hornets?
Oh yes, but the fake star player he drafted is running over kids.
I thought I had it bad as a Cowboy fan but being a Niner fan might just be worse.
It is a good time to be a Dallas Sports Fan though. Rangers win their first ever World Series, Mavericks 1 up in the West Finals, Stars in the West Finals, Cowboys loaded up in FA. It's all rainbows and unicorns here fellas!

Meh, he needs to dry his eyes. Far better to be a 9ers fan with 3 SB appearances in a decade and annual contention than a Jags or Browns or a load of other teams. And I’d far rather be a 9ers than Cowboys fan
I mean you would think that’s true, but I promise you there is less than no joy in 7 different trips to the NFCCG or later ending in a loss on a single play
I’d much rather never make the playoffs than go through that stretch of blue balls

You wouldn’t. I grew up supporting a Premier League football team that was **** every year. All we could dream of was mid table and no relegation battle.
it’s horrific.
72o is probably the only person who reads this thread that can attest to this but I am a devout sharks fan. I think years upon years ago he hated me for it. The last few years of them being abject garbage has been way less of a drain on me than the years they kept getting to the WCF, or the single time they got to the finals, and them ****ing up
Chelsea dagger is still the anthem to my nightmares

i probably got mad a few times, but i've always liked you. actually what sealed it for me was this poker thread from wayyy back when you were irm i think, some guy whining about losing aipf with ak vs t7s or something, and then you and everyone else just trolled him for a while. the responses were hilarious. this is the kind of dumb **** i remember for some reason, while forgetting much more important and recent stuff in life
the only sharks fan i didn't really care for was actionjacson, and that was because he was constantly trolling me intentionally. when he wasn't doing that it was fine. i had no problem with you, goofy, bravos, or any of the other sharks fans
(and actually the canucks and sharks or that era were kind of mirror images tbh)
and yeah, *** da hawks
nice of the thread to respect Antonio Brown's privacy during this difficult time
Ok well you can’t be bringing EPL to this. Obviously I can’t relate to those stakes
It all changes though. The first 28 years of my life I grew up as a Chelsea fan and then England in all things. And it was misery
Then I moved to Australia in 2000 and fell madly in love with the Sydney Roosters and we’ve made 8 Grand Finals and won 4 of them since and are contenders every year. Then a horrible murderous Russian Oligarch bought Chelsea and we had way more money than everyone and won everything. And then England won the rugby World Cup and got generally better at sport and now I’m just a standard untortured sports fan who still gets furious when his team doesn’t win it all every year
brown hasn't been relevant since 2018, and hasn't played since 2021, why would anyone care what he's up to?
I think Miami should give Tua 2 options
3 years / $120MM / $80MM - $100MM gtd
4 years / $216MM / $20MM - $30MM gtd
Option 1 - We're going to pay you less, but with a higher guarantee to give you some peace of mind. Prove to us that you can continue to stay healthy and beat good teams/win in the cold, and we can consider a big extension when the time comes.
Option 2 - We'll pay you more, but since we don't fully trust your injury history or know if you can win big games, we don't want to guarantee you as much.
Of course there is option 3 where they let him play out his 5th year, but I still think they sign him after freeing up all that money in the off season. I guess there's the scenario where they can't reach an agreement and Tua decides to sit or play and then become a FA.
Drew Rosenhaus will very unlikely be on board for either of those options, given extension precedent for QBs on their rookie contract, and especially top 5 picks.
If they offered him the second option, Tua would probably sit out
And given he’s guaranteed $23m already for this season it’s even more no bueno
I think guaranteeing 2 additional years might be the go
4/$200-$125 ish with say $60m in yr 1 but he honestly might not accept that either
I would never make it as GM but I just would not pay Tua. He somehow made it through last season but he isn't long for this league. I would guarentee one year and that is it.
Maybe if the $125mil are for the first two years so something like 4/250/125 plus a non-tag clause.
Other than that it's very difficult to see how he takes $125mil guaranteed when Goff just got 170mil guaranteed and almost 36yo Cousins got 100mil guaranteed off a torn Achilles tendon.

I agree. it would only be if he was really keen to lock in injury/concussion insurance and/or his agent had a very good sense that there wasn't much of a market out there for him next offseason.
But by all accounts it's a weaker QB draft in 25 and I'm sure we can predict a few other QB needy teams who will be moving on from underperforming vets...Jets, Titans, Raiders, Stillers, Seahawks, Cowboys, Chiefs etc
1. Mahomes: butker’s a good dude
2. Reid: butker’s a good dude
3. Kelce: butker’s a good dude
4. Butker: as you can plainly see I’m the victim of persecution for my beliefs
Have fun with this, chefs
saw that clip of mahomes talking about how he sits next to butker in all these team meetings but they've never said a word to each other lol. obv they all only care that he's a good kicker
i think his views and dumb and bad and stuff, but did he say something that warrants anything beyond some ppl now thinking of him as a stupid *******? thought i saw that even ppl in the (presumably his intended) audience for his little speech were pissed off, women in particular, which is pretty funny

I certainly don’t think butker should be losing his job over this considering how many people in recent memory have said stuff far far worse (Rodgers and Brees come to mind off the top of my head), it’s just hilarious to me that when nobody asked for it he decided ‘the world needs me now more than ever’ and now is acting like he’s been cancelled and silenced (he obviously hasn’t)
chargers social media team is top notch
had to pause several times to catch all the references
watch to the end for more rodgers and butker
