lafreniere was the only ranger who was better than any panther by xg, just slightly nudging luostarinen. but obviously he was much better, he just got dragged to hell by his dogshit teammates. this was an absolute beat down. and yet it took an overtime powerplay goal for the panthers to win. if they win the stanley cup, it will be an incredible team effort in spite of their mediocre goaltender. usually the champion the rides a goalie on some variety of heater, but sometimes it plays out like this.

on ryan lindgren's 2% game

i saw that he took a big hit and appeared to get injured, but he did stay in the game so i guess he was ok enough. also he has been the worst rangers dman in the playoffs iirc, so. anyway...

all but 4 players showed up, they've had a lot of these kind of games. reminiscent of those good kings teams where even the bottom of the roster players who weren't really that good were big and able to control the game by winning the possession game, and thus the xg. hold the fort down until mcdrai get back on the ice. the canucks weren't able to solve this problem, and if the stars can't, they'll be out too. they gotta figure out what worked in game 3, and fast.

lets hear it for malucci, 4% little joe. i know each game is such a small sample, but it's wild how many times a player has gone not just from good to bad or vice versa from game to game, but literally from best to worst or vice versa. lol hockey i guess. also tanev's 7% impacted by a puck to foot injury that limited him to 7 minutes at 5v5. related: the stars fell apart in the back half of the game. if that's a serious injury they could be in trouble here.

yeah i kinda forgot/failed to consider the strong kangz aspect, that makes sense. were the sharks still good when he was there? i forgot. probably for at least some of it

anyway he can't be worth more than the ~minimum at this point, right? he seems risky as a backup, because that's your insurance policy. and most start 20-30 games these days

CL and most top level football really save for the odd Arsenal match. I might have watched more NHL playoff games than footy games all year!
