Genocide, occupying power, apartheid, white colonizers, occupied people are all words thrown into dialogues for this reason

Yes and what is a woman.

This is isn't how words work. They make sincere dialogue impossible without greater caution.

Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.

If somebody wants to use words that existed in the language for at least a century or close to it, in a way that wouldn't be absolutely obvious to an educated person in 1955, 99% of the times that person is from the left and the new definition is an explicit neologistical connotation which helps the leftist narrative.

And we have to fight every single time against that linguistic violence, every single time, denying validity and dignity to all their semantic shenanigans, clarifying they do NOT get to decide the meaning of words and even attempting to do so is an explicitly unacceptable way of conducting a discourse in a democracy.

We have our responsibility though, for example the ministry of defense should still be called ministry of war.

And first trimester abortion isn't baby murder.

And legal immigration can't be an invasion even if you disagree with immigration laws.

You keep wasting your time worrying about "linguistic violence" and we, the society of normal Americans, will keep throwing people in jail that run over protestors or storm the capital.

afaik the state of Texas just pardoned a guy that shot a road-blocking protestor in the face in cold blood, we discussed that in "other news"

The nut job governor will be getting his due soon. But Tiger blood and winning, Charlie.

sure all politicians you dislike will soon (tm) lose elections.

meanwhile normal America is fighting back against linguistic violence (all DEI is predicated on semantic violent distortions)

ES2... one of the funniest and best edited videos I have seen.

I forgot to mention that absolutely nobody is worse about this than Libertarians.

Here's some definition of 'theft' i made up

OMG, this also could describe taxes!

Therefore, paying taxes is the exact same thing as being mugged or a home invasion! Holy crap, what a stroke of genius!

cold blood,"

Then don't come to Texas

moved

Damn, the Trump administration was even more sinister than I had always thought.

This seems like a fine place for it, but I guess that is also.

How does one get into discussing politics?

I might have too feeble of a mind for it.

I follow discussions of a lot of different topics on the internet. But I have little to no idea what's going on in most political discussions. There's just a lot of ... nuance, and propaganda, or a knowledge base that I have zero of.

I figured this wasn't threadworthy.

don't worry, nobody here knows anything....especially me!

I might have too feeble of a mind for it.

This is not so much a barrier to discussion politics as it is a requirement.

I’d say most on this forum have some political news source. Sometimes they are very bad - alt-right Twitter for instance - but they get a continual input of information to repeat here. So if you feel like people know a lot of details you don’t, that’s probably why. But you don’t need to know much if anything and having such a stream of information isn’t at all indicative of it being true or helpful. A lot would be better if they could get away from their biased sources.

I only listen to Alex Jones and Whoopi

So, I knew that Adidas was founded by a guy called Adi Dassler (although I didn't know that "Adi" was short for "Adolf"), but TIL that his brother Rudolf founded a competing company called "Ruda", which was soon re-branded to "Puma". I guess the whole family was pretty good at making shoes.

You don't see guys named Adolf or Rudolf so much these days.

Rudolf/Rudolph seems to be around - there's that pesky reindeer, and Giuliani. A veritable collection of Nazis if I've ever seen one.

I don't think someone who was born pre-D-Day really negates his statement. :p
