Just One Game Thread
In this thread we will play the hottest new social word game.
It’s a cooperative game but we can split it into teams to bring a little more competition to it.
To play the game, everyone but one person is given the secret word for that round. Then everyone submits a 1-word clue to that secret word. The mod removes any duplicate words and posts the unique clues and the one person then guesses the secret word.
If correct, we get a point; if wrong we lose a point; if isn’t sure of the word, they can

I PMed D1iab to clue again just to be on the safe side
Which site do you use to rand words Nich?
nice job AK
antithesis is impossible. i was trying to dupe someone so that we wouldn't get a -1. glad the other two duped
newlywed could have been possible, but ya that's a hard one
no idea what the airplane clue is supposed to be. that turned into an unfortunate set of clues!
Intentionally trying to dupe to result in a pass is next level.
I think there was a scene in airplane about "over and out" - I considered cluing out but figured that could go in so many directions.
Would be amazing if one team had clued “you” “should” “pass” without duping on of of those words
The captain's name in Airplane! is Clarence Oveur
Such an awesome film
Great job nich, especially on sabotage. Beastie was one of those clues that was so obvious that I thought everyone might avoid it. But you also need somebody to clue it or else it's gonna be really tough otherwise.
I looked up Galloping Gourmet and it's a cooking show from the 60s with 100 votes on imdb! That is one helluva shadowfax lol.
Are hyphenated clues allowed?
wow; wonder how he thought that clue would hit, then
I guess it's good in that it didn't clue for other culinary words that could throw me off
like Michelin could get more to chef or star; and Thermador or Subzero to appliances
gourmet is a hard word; culinary refined is a good duo of words to get me to think of gourmet and then Galloping at least being capitalized and the alliteration made it sound like it could be a thing, so it worked
yeah hyphenated should be fine
we allow symbols and emojis, after all
and yeah, marriage, game, eubanks is a great clue for Newlyweds so that one was doable

Hyphenated is problematic imo. Basically let's people clue two words. It would need to be a hyphenated word that is listed in dictionary.com (or other source) imo.
Yeah, it has to be a real word as hyphenated, not to get around the “just one” idea
Well there goes my penguin-seagull clue. :(

That was me. My mom used to watch that show back in the day, which probably made me think it's more well-known than it really is. I figured if Nich actually knows it, it's a lock, and if he doesn't, well...I didn't have a better idea anyway.
And yeah, great job guessing, Nich. Clues were solid, but words were not a gimme by any stretch.
Galloping Gourmet had a pretty big following in Canada back in the day. I actually thought it was Canadian because it was on CBC, Canada's BBC.
