Questions are a great way of making the other person to think by themself instead of just feeding them with your opinion and get more insight of how the other person is thinking. It is possible then even to learn somthing from the person who asked the questions because he thought about something you where not even aware of.
Every person is conditioned different therefore sees the world a bit differend wich makes everything so intresting but the ego wants to protect his opinion/point of view because beeing wrong/mistakes is percieved as bad and dangerous. (this is how i percieve it)

To the hand it is important to hear the thoughts that lead up to the play not the play it self. It is very likley emotions / ego manipulating you to this action.
