Sup June?
The Geezer Tour hit town again last night. This time the band was Pink Floyd. Okay, it wasn't really "Pink" Floyd, it was "Brit" Floyd. I have to say this was a really enjoyable concert. The production values of the stage show were very good. The music was 100% spot on - my wife commented that if she closed her eyes it was just the same as listening to the 8-track sitting in the El Camino parked in the driveway back in the late 70s (but with better sound quality). The vocals were good. Didn't quite sound like Pink Floyd but they weren't trying to imitate them. The first part of the show was mostly songs from The Division Bell (30th anniversary). After a short intermission, they did stuff from other albums. Ended up being a three-hour concert. I would recommend.
Speaking of the olds, I opted for James McMurtry with Betty Soo opening last night in downtown Phoenix. Banger of a show. Second time in about a year I saw this show (last year down in Tucson). Similar but not identical setlists. Got a couple of fav's (Choctaw Bingo, Canola Fields), heard a bunch of the new album, which is very good. While there were plenty of younger folk in the crowd, I definitely felt like the medium age was still over my age.
I'm usually a sucker for anything Floyd, but I'll probably pass on Brit Floyd later this month in Phoenix. Seen 'em already, and my concert dollar has to stretch further. If you get an opportunity to catch Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, don't hesitate. Best Pink Floyd-like band featuring an actual member of PF.

I'm usually a sucker for anything Floyd, but
Did McMurtry ever crack a smile? Did he say over 25 words (other than singing)?
I really like McMurtry. I'd say he needs anti-depressants but that would foul up his song-writing something fierce.
He seemed pretty "up beat", for McMurtry. He definitely said more than 25 words, at one point encouraging tipping the bartenders and going off on a mini-rant about not being a civilized country that pays its workers a living wage. Without being too dour about it.
👍
That's an encouraging sign for him. I hope he's having a better time than he usually looks like he is.
Needs more pongo:

Pretty sure he had on the same hat/shirt in Tucson last summer.
