[Chico Network] BetOnline, Tiger, etc.: Unofficial Discussion Thread

This is the new (as of August 2016) discussion thread for the Chico Network. Decided to put this together since we had a lot of duplicate discussion with different threads.

I've "cheated" this a bit by copying one of my old posts and modifying it as the OP, and I'm going to move all the posts from this year in the BOL & Chico threads over to here.

*

Edit/MH: As there are no Sponsored Forums now, the BOL forum has been closed and locked, basically to be fair to the other sites. However, you can still read some old posts there, at https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/284/b...

Please use this thread for future discussions.

Thank you.

How do you guys feel about the new rakeback system?

Just an absolute joke. I can play on other sites and get rakeback for a single hand played.....or I can play at BetOnline where I have to reach certain tier levels for a whopping 25% max which I probably wouldn't reach anyway. All while having the worst rake a poker site could have, hard pass

The rakeback is useless for micro stakes. It is nice that they lowered the rake.

I got a whole $3 for my May bonus. Granted I dont grind on this site but I still probably paid around $100 in MTT rake over the month. A whopping 3%. Better than nothing I guess.

The rb system is clearly pretty poorly thought out, but the changes as a whole are still a huge net positive. Hopefully they continue to encourage cash action and reward regs.

10-25% as a reward range is pretty underwhelming and the lowest tier is completely inaccessible to any micro or any-level casual player. Both of these are pretty major issues. The new rake structure is much improved for lowstakes, but still doesn't seem great for micro players and is still among the worst 500nl+ rake anywhere. Things are definitely improved, but still not good or competitive with the best options.

Would also love to see an attempt at 100z or 200z - 50z has been running around the clock since the changes and cash traffic in general seems way up at lowstakes, so would be cool to see if any higher than 50z could get going, at least at peak times. I think recalibrating the reward thresholds to be slightly more generous to everyone and more accessible to micro grinders could lead to a real cash boom on the site. The game quality seems pretty good and the overall offering is at least back within the realm of other sites rather than being completely unplayable.

Is there a website or area within the client that advises on what changes occurred from the most recent update on BOL?

https://www.betonline.ag/promotions/poke...

the games were really trash last month or so maybe that changes now a bit
not sure sure its even possible for a lot of people to reach 25% tier tho

The rakeback sucks. And I absolutely hate freeroll tourneys as a prize where you don't actually get to play them yourself. they did a survey and seems everyone player will be getting a free HUD.

so all tables have a straddle now? (not counting Boost)

Yes, I am pretty sure it's been like that for months but could be wrong.

I was playing a mystery bounty tournament on Betonline, and a player bragged in the chat about how profitable they are. So I decided to look them up on Sharkscope, just curious if they were blowing smoke or not.

Their graph showed a long, steady decline to close to 5k in losses followed by a few very recent spikes all the way up to 3k in profits. So I looked under "publish" to see what their big wins were, and saw this:

06/11/2024 | Prize | Won $2,453 in a Mystery Bounty $22 tournament on Chico. Finished in position 16 out of 39 players.
06/10/2024 | Prize | Won $2,549 in a Mystery Bounty $22 tournament on Chico. Finished in position 25 out of 33 players.
06/10/2024 | Prize | Won $1,568 in a Mystery Bounty $11 tournament on Chico. Finished in position 30 out of 47 players.
06/09/2024 | Prize | Won $1,763 in a Mystery Bounty $11 tournament on Chico. Finished in position 2 out of 87 players.

So this person hit 4 mystery bounty jackpots in 3 days!

How can that be possible? Is something shady going on here?

If you want to see this for yourself on Sharkscope, look up the username "bness" on the Chico network.

I just checked and, sure enough, bness has hit another mystery bounty jackpot.

From Sharkscope:

06/13/2024 | Prize | Won $1,671 in a Mystery Bounty $11 tournament on Chico. Finished in position 28 out of 39 players.

That's now 5 times in the last 5 days.

I'm not one of those "OnLiNe PoKeR iS RiGgEd!!1" guys, but something is not right here.

According to Betonline, the probability of hitting a jackpot bounty is 0.006%.

Any thoughts?

is there good traffic midnight EU?

thats pretty insane, i dont get why the entrants are small fields like an $11 surely had more than 39 players ?

I think something isn't quite right or guy has ran literal 0.00000000001% run

These arent standard mystery bounty tourneys. There is a global Mystery Bounty Prize pool that all of these tourneys contribute to, and all KOs pull from. Right now the prize pool is $28800. They run hourly and dont get a ton of players. 39 at a low volume time is reasonable.

It doesnt look like he was even won most possible (Top Tier is 20% of prize pool and each KO has a .006% chance of winning that), just several Tier 2 (5.65% of prize pool) scores in a short span. Each KO has a .054% of that. Still a crazy run, how crazy depends on how many KOs he has.

I would say decent

Looks like they might introduce razz and stud. Theyre going to run a mystery bounty razz and stud tournament so hopefully that also means theyll eventually introduce cash games tables. I really really hope they do.

Unfortunately it looks like all of the Stud (its actually Stud8) and Razz tourneys are $2 buyin and using their Mystery KO Jackpot format. Never seen bounties in a limit game before.

Wish they had events for more medium stakes - $11-$33 range but its still good that the software has the capability to do Stud games. Maybe this is a test run for that capability.

I DM'd Chris about this but I got into two separate asinine conversations with support over a situation that happened to me today. Was playing cash on my phone and has 2-3 tables open with roughly $400-600 them. I went to play DOTA and instead of exiting tables just turned off my phone screen knowing I'd go AFK and just be sat out (incredibly obvious to anyone who has ever played cash).

Came back a few hours later and all that money was gone. Obviously went to support and as you'd expect they were completely useless. Nothing wrong on their end. The first person I talked to did eventually say well I can see some histories where you were folding and then lost money. So I asked was I basically still dealt in and losing blinds and they said yes. Then I said well wait that's impossible because in a CASH GAME you get sat out as soon as you miss action on any hand. I was then told they could see entries to 3 tournaments for roughly $100 $200 and $150 and that if I don't play my hands I will lose my chips. So they somehow think I was playing tournaments.

I actually had a similar issue with Bovada in the past so I think all of this poker customer support must be outsourced to the same dumb****s who don't understand what a cash game is. Tangent, once had a glitch on Bovada where I was getting ready to bomb river against a whale with the nuts in a huge pot, used bet slider, and somehow it glitched out and folded my hand - BOVADA SOFTWARE DID NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO FOLD IN POSITION WHEN CLOSING ACTION - and was told by multiple of their support agents that I was playing in a tournament. I digress.

I got to a second agent who told me the same thing and gave me a $200 courteousy. So clearly they acknolwedge wrongdoing but their support are too dumb to understand how a cash game works so this is all I can get.

Anyways that's mostly just to vent but if someone had a similar experience and was able to find a solution I would appreciate knowing about it.

Ey guys. Does anyone know who owns
Julian International Holdings which is operating the Chico network? I get various answers on the net. Has anyone ever investigated?

i really really hope so...playing $2/$4 - $5/$10 razz would be the nuts
