Fowldoggs journey to las vegas 6-16 to 6-21

Ayyooo! What’s up, it’s your boy Fowldogg, bringing you the first-ever trip report!

I’m a huge fan of Las Vegas and I’ve always loved reading these trip reports, so I figured it’s high time to write one of my own. I used to hit Vegas hard in my twenties—5 to 6 times a year, and every trip was a full-on degenerate fest. Just finished school, so I haven’t been able to hit up Vegas as much lately, though I was just there last month for a bachelor party. This trip, it’s me and my brother-in-law, who we’ll call B-Man.

What to Expect in This Trip Report:
Poker
Pai Gow, Blackjack, and probably Baccarat
We booked a direct flight with Delta. It should be straightforward, and the best part? Free Wi-Fi. Seriously, why isn’t this standard on all flights yet? Give it a year. We should land around 2 PM. Got a comped stay at MGM Grand—hey, it’s better than Excalibur, lol.

Game Plan:
Today, I’m thinking about hopping into the daily Deepstack or maybe the MGM tournament at 6 PM; it seems like pretty good value.

I’ve been playing poker for about 6-7 years, mostly tournaments with some decent scores. Looking to improve this number before I start my new job.

Stay tuned for the wild ride!

Looks great, I’m IN!

Good luck and have fun

GL GL. Enjoy the trip.

I'm impressed that people can actually get rooms comped. I need to learn that trick. I go to Vegas several times per year and never get freebies!

Seems like the airlines want to see if people are willing to pay for it before they give it away. I usually fly Southwest and they're not a complete cheapskate airline in general, but they try to extract a fee for Wi-Fi usage. I practice avoidance with that.

Ladies and gents, welcome to the sizzling inferno that is Las Vegas! I swear, I haven’t felt heat like this since that time I tried to fix my radiator with a hairdryer. So, we zoomed over to the MGM like we were auditioning for Fast & Furious, snagged a chicken sandwich, and plunked down $400 to dive into their two-day poker extravaganza. I'll drop some hand details once the cards start flying.

Now, let me tell you about the MGM. I hit up the gym, but first, I had to embark on an epic quest through a labyrinth of hotel towers. Seriously, it felt like a marathon just to find the pool. I’m pretty sure I crossed a time zone. But hey, we got into our room right on the dot at 2:30, thanks to the app. It was so smooth, I didn’t see a single human. I mean, it's wild how old-school tech can let your phone double as a room key.

Anyway, we're in Vegas, baby! Let’s do this!

Also anyone know what the hell this stay well thing?

]s it free?

You know what ? I've been hitting up this joint for years, and not once did I get a single freebie. Then my buddy drops this genius idea: "Slide a hundred bucks through a slot machine every time you're in Vegas, and don't forget your rewards card." Lo and behold, the guy was right. A hundred bucks later, and I'm getting comped rooms. Sure, it’s the MGM Grand, but hey, free is free. Who knew my path to VIP status was paved with slot machines and desperation?

It's easy. Just lose a couple three grand at some kind of gamble.

Alright, alright, let’s dive into some hands from the $400 MGM event. We had a solid turnout with 170 players. Buckle up and get ready for some poker drama!

I got seated in the 6️⃣ seat. We’re starting off 6-handed, and the cast of characters was something else.

**Seat 1**: This dude can't stop saying "blessed." Seriously, he’s got it on repeat more than any basic white girl with a pumpkin spice latte. Dealer asks how he’s doing? Blessed. Dealer sneezes? Blessed. He blesses everyone like he’s the Pope. I mention his blessed obsession, and he gets all bent out of shape, asking why I don’t like the word. I thought he was a Tight player until he hit showdowns, which we'll get into later.

**Seat 2**: Farmer Grandpa. Only plays monsters. Probably waiting for pocket aces like they’re the harvest season.

**Seat 3**: Young masked AZN.

**Seat 4**: Slightly older AZN.

**Seat 6**: Your boy, Fowldogg, ready to stir the pot.

**Seat 8**: Euro guy. I kid you not, I saw him putting on sunscreen at the poker table. At 6 PM. Indoors. As the sun was setting. Must be pretty neat

**Level 1, Blinds 100/200/200, Starting stack 30K:**

I open with 💖5 💖3 in the hijack. Euro sunscreen dude 3-bets me to 1.3K. I call because, why not?

Flop: ️9 ️9 ️3
I check and he bets 1.4k. I call
Turn: 💖10

I check again, and he checks back.

River: ️4

I check, he checks back. I show my cards, and he looks like I just told him Santa isn’t real. He mucks his hand in disappointment.

Good start

Level 100/200/200, Stack: 32K

I open UTG with ️A ️K, tossing in 600 like it’s pocket change. Euro calls right behind me, and everyone else folds faster than cheap lawn chairs.

Flop: ️9 ️10 ️6

I bet 700, and Euro calls quick

Turn: ️A – "Very nice!" (Imagine Borat’s voice here)

I bet 1.2K, and he snap-calls

River: ️9

I'm thinking he’s got a 10 and is getting a bit sticky. I make it 2.5K, and he calls.

He stares blankly at my AK. Then he mucks his cards. Nice.

A middle-aged AZN guy parks himself in seat 7, and he's opening more hands and 3-betting like it's a clearance sale.

Level 2, 200/400/400, sitting with 36K

I peek at ️Q ️10 in middle position. Our aggro friend in seat 7 3-bets me to 2.5K. This guy's playing more hands then anyone at the table, so I decide it's worth a call.

Flop: ️K ️Q ️10

I check, and he fires a continuation bet of 2.5K. I raise it up to 7K, and he snap folds like he’s folding laundry.

Maybe I should’ve let him keep being aggressive, but that board was getting wetter than Waterworld. Anyway, he folds, and we scoop the pot.

**Level 3, 200-300/300**

UTG young AZN guy raises to 1.1K. I look down at ️K ️K and decide to smooth call.

Euro calls on the button, and Blessed Guy calls in the small blind. Well, let's see if I learned anything todayÂ…or did I?

**Flop:** ️K ️7 ️3

Blessed Guy checks, UTG AZN checks, and I decide to check too. Euro checks, and we all take a 20-second nap.

**Turn:** ️K

Small blind leads for 1.4K, Young AZN calls 1.4K, and I choose to call. Euro folds.

**River:** ️J

Blessed Guy settles down and checks, Young AZN bets 3.4K. I tank, thinking, "Do I just call and hope Blessed Guy loses his mind?" Nah, heÂ’s done with this hand. I raise to 10K.

Young AZN calls. AndÂ…quads are good! 😂

Hm, thought I'd subbed already. In any event, nice start, keep it up!

Because the hand is garbage, and hard to play OOP. That said, if playing it leads to a tilting Euro mis-reg, I am here for it 😃

Mohawk dude in seat 9 and Blue Hat Guy in seat 5.

Level 4, 300-500/500, sitting on around 56K

I raise from MP+1 to 1.2K with ️2 ️2. Mohawk dude bumps it up to 4.7K, sitting on about 60K himself.

Something felt off about his raise, like he was bluffing. I considered 4-betting to 14K but chickened out and just called.

Flop: ️9 ️9 ️6

I check in flow, he fires a 3.5K bet, . Still beating big overs, so I call.

Turn: ️9

I check, he drops a small 4.5K bet. With my boat, I still feel good, so I call.

River: ️8

Here's where I really screwed the pooch. I should’ve put out a chunky bet, like 13K or 15K. Instead, I played it safe and checked. He checks back and flips over ️5 ️6 for a higher boat. Damn.

GL GL enjoying it already!

It's an air filter. The rabbit air minusa2 to be specific.

good stuff.

so this tournament was like 4 days ago and he shares all these crazy hands he won from the first three levels, then loses a hand with 2-2 in level 4 and we never hear from him again?

Vegas has him now, boys..might be living in the tunnels..

don't get so excited about hands from the first three levels boys and girls
