WSOP TR: third time is a charm?
Last year didn’t go as well as my first wsop in 2022 when I cashed in all three events I played.
Let’s hope the third time is a charm! Main priorities are monster stack, where I made day 2 last year, and seniors, which I mincashed year one.

Landed around 2; staying again at vdara. Checked in, ate a huge lunch at Javier’s, got a massage, did my Whole Foods run.
I’m attempting to not eat again until breakfast tomorrow- supposedly a strategy to combat jet lag so I can try to sleep past 4 am this year.
Anyway with some time to kill before bed I figured let’s see how long the walk is through bellagio to the wsop. The answer is 16 mins, which allowed me to get 4 hands in the monster stack before dinner break. Coming back to 47.6k vs 1.5k bb, or 30 ish bigs.
Highlight so far is seeing el diesel wandering around the tournament area.
Let’s go go go.

Monster Stack Bullet 1
Almost immediately after sitting down I realized this was a mistake. At this point it’s just before 7 pm LV time, and I had been up since 6 AM east coast time. And I’m hungry. Tired, hungry - not the ideal frame of mind. Plus only 8 minutes to play before dinner break? What am I going to do for 75 minutes? Table was full of 25-60 year old men, a few grizzled grinder types.
Then I got a good chuckle when I see the well known visage of mr. Rice is a Spoon Food himself walking down the main aisle of the big Paris room. This can’t be all bad.
Over break I wandered over to Horseshoe to check out the TV tables and camped out at one of the outer tables in that room. It has such a special feel.
Besides the tired and hungry, the mistake in entering was that I really just didn’t feel like grinding out a 20 something BB stack, mostly because I had such a great time at last year’s monster stack over the course of day 1 - and that even if I made it through to day 2 the odds would be pretty long that I had anything close to an average stack. So I decided that I would not be afraid to take marginal spots to try to spin up a stack or just come back in the AM.
As it turned out my 50k starting stack was steadily depleted; I only saw 5 playable hands and was fairly card dead for most of the hour after dinner - I defended my BB with 86o and whiffed the flop; I folded QJo in the SB after Btn jammed A8 for 7k and BB called w KJo - of course Q on the flop would have come my way but the fold was the right decision here. I called 77 on the Btn vs an EP open; broadway flop got action between raiser and BB defender and I folded.
With about 25bb I jammed AKo in sb vs UTG2 raise, who folded AcTc face up.
A few hands later an LJ raise was called by the HJ table chip leader - both seemed competent and had been fairly active. I jammed black 88 in the CO; LJ called w AKo and HJ folded.
An all spade flop helped - but unfortunately one of them was the ace. He had no spades, but neither did the turn nor the river.
Good news is that I managed to get a decent night’s rest, and decided against going over to one of the 6 1/2 PLO games at the Aria when I woke up at 3:30 AM and instead managed to get back to sleep.

Weird start to day 1b - some sort of major delay with bravo and all tables in horseshoe seem to be starting 4 handed around now.

Welp. Day 1C tomorrow!
I was looking for that Spaceballs GIF/Meme "Keep Firing *******s" lol but seriously, better luck next flight. Vdara is a savvy consumer choice. While I don't stay there often, I certainly get why people do - in my few experiences there and from what I still hear from those who stay, nothing but good things regarding, price, location, cleanliness, convenience etc
On to Venetian $1,100 bounty. The day is looking up - I’m in the 9 seat and Olga I just sat down directly across from me.

Bad news is she busted in like 10 mins. Good news is I’m up to about 3x starting stack and took down a $200 bounty w JJ AIPF vs A4 and AQ.
