Monotone flop in a 3-bet pot, facing a tiny bet

Monotone flop in a 3-bet pot, facing a tiny bet

Game is $2-$100 spread-limit, where the most you can raise is $100 over the previous bet. Blinds are $1-$2 with an optional $4 UTG straddle. Effective stack is $350.

HAND: I open KhJh to $14 in the LJ. The Button calls. The BB 3-bets to $40. I call. Button folds. Heads-up.

FLOP: 9c8c6c (pot: $95, heads-up). The BB leads for just $20.

Are all three options on the table?

I'm not folding - the problem is he has a fair amount of overcards/overpairs that contain a club. Call the flop and see how the turn plays out - we're IP with a dangerous board for BB so it shouldn't be too hard to make money on the turn/river.

Just fold. You literally have the worst hand in your range.

Why are we opening 7x pre in a spread limit game?

3.5x (the $4 UTG straddle is on.)

RESULT: I went with a call, with an eye on stealing on straight cards.

TURN: 9c8c6c 8s (pot: $135) He checks I check. What 8 can I have here that calls the flop?

RIVER: 9c8c6c 8s 4h (pot: $135) He bets $50 and while it seems pretty fishy, this isn’t the runout I was looking to bluff at, so I fold.

Fold pre after the 3 bet, unless you have a pretty good read on the button, which you did not supply in the HH.

Despite the fact that he flatted your initial raise, he could come alive here in this perfect squeeze spot.
