Harrah's Resort (Atlantic City, NJ)
Original OP:
OK, thought it was time we had a Harrah's thread. I'm by no means a regular, but regular enough. I''m hoping all the other regs on here can step in and give some good room updates, BBJ updates, promos etc. Maybe we can even discuss what kind of comps we're getting etc. Action on different days of the week would be great, players, dealers, fights, etc. all the stuff we lovet to talk about anyway, just pertaining to harrahs AC !!!!
Thread FAQ (by Lovesantiques):
Welcome to the Harrah's Atlantic City thread!
This is where all the posts regarding poker at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City should go.
Some basic information:
Harrah's has a poker room with 40 tables.
Daily cash games include:
1/2 NLHE
2/5 NLHE
2/4 LHE
2.50/5.00/7.50 Pink Chip Limit Hold'em
4/8 miniblind ($1 and $2 blinds, 4/8 betting structure) LHE
and the increasingly popular $7.50/$15.00 Pink Chip Omaha hi/low and Stud hi/low mixed game (1/2 hour of Omaha alternating with 1/2 hour of stud, both with 8 or better lows.)
Friday nights, and some Saturday nights, there is also a 5/10 NLHE game that has been going the past couple of weeks.
Currently, the 2/4 LHE game pays 10 tier credits per hour plus 50 cents an hour in comps. Should it ever go again, the 1-5 spread limit stud game also will pay this.
The 1/2 NLHE game, the 2.50/5.00/7.50 Pink Chip game, and the 4/8 miniblind game all pay 20 tier credits per hour plus $1 an hour in comps.
The 2/5 NLHE game along with the $7.50/$15.00 OE game pay 40 tier credits per hour plus $2 an hour in comps. Any games spread that are higher in limits than these would get the same comps and tier credits per hour.
There is a poker rate available for room nights, but it is on a first come first served as available basis. Ask at the podium as to the availability on any given night.
The poker room rates are:
Sunday through Thursday nights is $25 per night.
Friday night is $89
Saturday night is $169
5 hours of play is required.
The current tournament schedule is:
Sunday through Friday:
10:15am NLHE $85 + $15 buy in
1:15pm NLHE $85 + $15 buy in
8:15pm NLHE $85 + $15 buy in
Midnight NLHE $58 +$12 buy in
Please note that on Friday only the 8:15pm tournament is $105 + $20 buy in.
Saturday, the times are the same, but the buy in is $105 + $20 for the first 3, $58 + $12 for the midnight one.
Harrah's is also running satellite tournaments for entries into the WSOP main event. Please contact the room for specifics.
Current promotions are:
Play a minimum of 50 hours at any CET property in Atlantic City (Harrah's, Caesar's, Showboat, Bally's) and earn you way into the $50,000 freeroll on June 13.
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday there is a bonus of $1 in comps (does not affect tier scores) for each hour played. This is for all games in the poker room.
Win a tournament, and get an entry into the special Tournament winner's freeroll. There will be a minimum of $10,000 given away each month.
Win a tournament in May, and the freeroll is on June 14th.
Win a tournament in June, and the freeroll is on July 12th.
Win a tournament in July, and the freeroll is on August 9th.
Win a tournament in August, and the freeroll is on September 13th.
Please note that this series of freerolls applies to all 4 Atlantic City CET properties, not just Harrah's. So everyone has lots of chances to win an entry each month.
There is a high hand bonus each day, ending at 6:00am the following morning. Whoever has the high hand for the day gets $200 in comps. If it is a royal flush (usually the case) any subsequent royal flush gets $50 in comps.
Harrah's is part of the combined bad beat jackpot, along with Caesar's, Bally's, and Showboat. As of 5/26/2011, it was at $247,756.50 and quad eights were the minimum hand to beat.
New restaurants are opening at Harrah's soon! Stay tuned for more details.

Anyone know if Harrahs still does free rooms for 4 hours of play?
This place sucks too. Eden bar barely open. Poner doesnt go 24/7 ... played poker and video poker , tried to drive out , no ***** parking attendants , machine wont take 2 credit and 1 debit card...multiple cars cant get out...nobody answers calls....I was about to 911 or vandalize the ***** parking arm to get out before I found an arm briefly up that closed behind me. Even the cash lane people were stuck. Total sht.

that paying for parking is garbage. I've had more issues in AC at oceans and Harrahs waiting 10 - 15 minutes behind a line of cars. I'm not sure what the issue is.
I stay here sometimes when I go to AC because it's relatively cheap - but I don't know how they are gonna stay in business.
Hello! I am planning to go to AC for couple of days and would like your opinion about this property. I am interested to play mainly 1/2 and I see from poker atlas that they have 10 poker tables. Can you tell me are the games good? If you have any suggestions or considerations please share.

Harrah's spreads $1/2 and $1/3. They are not quite interchangeable and that can be table-dependent but the fact is the $1/3 game has more money on the table usually and as the biggest game in the room (maybe they spread $2/5 but I haven't seen it) it can attract players who would normally play higher which changes the game dynamics a lot if you're at a table with three of them. $1/2 is a lot more likely to have passive players. My game translates better to their $1/2 but I usually play the $1/3 for the higher tier credits the game provides.
There are only three places to play in AC. Other than Harrah's there's the Tropicana and of course the Borgata.
The Trop has the benefit of being on the boardwalk, and also spreads $1/2 but not $1/3 so that's the only game there. The games are pretty interchangeable from Harrah's $1/2. They're also a CET property.
I prefer to play at Harrah's because I am a Caesar's Diamond and have perks that I can take advantage of and want to keep so the $1/3 works for me (they also have a $10/20 OE game on Mondays that draws me in). I also like their rooms better when the boardwalk is not a consideration for my wife and kid.
The Borgata is off the boardwalk and has the advantage of many more tables going but no lower than $1/3. But they're open 24/7 unlike the Caesar's properties and you have better game selection - right now there's 14 $1/3 games there, nearly double the tables at both of the other rooms combined so it's easier to table change into a softer game.
I haven't played there in ages because I am licensed through them for my job (I do not work there but they won't let me play under these circumstances) but other than comps and perks and customer service issues changing for the worse as MGM has asserted control of the casino/room, I don't think the games have changed very much. Others may disagree and they may know better than me.
I don't think the play at any of these rooms is substantially different so it really depends on whether you consider $1/3 a barrier or not and the other things about the rooms (location, amenities, etc.). Good luck and post a tour report when you go, I love reading those!
Anyone know how many tier credits per hour for 1/2? Any different for 1/3 or 2/5? 10/20 or 20/40 limit games that run?
3-6 LIMIT 17TC $1.00/hr
1-2NL 17TC $1.00/hr
1-3 NL 26TC $1.50/hr
2-5NL 34 TC $2.00/hr
10-20 Mix 34 TC $2.00/hr
20-40 Stud 34 TC $2.00/hr
2-5 PLO 34 TC $2.00/hr
It's 34 TC for all games in Vegas at Caesar's, maybe that's what you were thinking about ...
I think you even got 34 TC for 1/2NL before they changed it to 1/3NL
Yeah or was just hoping it was the same. There is a 10x tier credit multiplier week at the end of August. I'm 11,300 to your credits away from Diamond, it's always hoping I would be able to bridge a large part of the gap in that week but 17 tier credits makes it a lot harder. Hopefully 1/3 runs, and I will play the 10:20 mixed when it runs on that Monday.

Damn, thanks for the heads up
I thought some posters here reported that poker did count even tho it did say no poker in the fine print. Somebody correct me if am I wrong.
Along the same lines, my August 10x offer says Vegas again this year, but it should still work for AC as well, right?

Somebody told me that everything counts as long as you have some qualifying activity (i.e. play a bit of slots with a bunch of poker)

It's in AC too, just need to swipe, it's for everyone
I knew 10x TC wasn't for poker but I couldn't find anything for 10x in AC at all! I thought they replaced it with 5x only.
Can someone link to the 10x promotion?
I got this email today. I am glad there is some sort of diamond lounge with food again.
