Viktor Isildur1 Blom - Whats going on?
Viktor Isildur1 Blom 2016 - Whats going on?
It seems like he comes online like every day, and most of the time losing 5k and then not back until next day again. Anyone got an idea why he does like this?
Why not sit down with 20k and play, why 5k~ every single day?
He cant be broke because he keeps coming back the next day, and it cant be a smart move either to decide to give it a go with just 5k every single day, and then not play at all for the rest of the day.
Does he have a daily 5k limit on deposits?
What u guys think?
Galfond said he would take on anyone / everyone in the big games. But wasn't he notorious for his game selection and only playing when Guy or Gus was at the table?
Galfond basically camped at Hansen's HU table and lived by the computer waiting for Gus to pop up.
Galfond offered to play anyone in his challenge and he won everyone even though he wasnt playing regularly. I dont understand the hatred
I dont know what happened 14 years ago but he is willing to put his money where his mouth is in recent years
Surprised to see Galfond get a bunch of hate. He’s genuinely a nice person and loves poker and anyone that really loves poker also loves isildur. There is no clickbait intention behind this video. It’s just Galfond is talking about the game he is passionate about.
Where's the "hate"?
He stated in the video he would take on anyone / everyone in the big games.
The reality is that he only played the big games when Guy was at the table - in which case he was doing equity deals on the side with his 2 other friends sitting at the same table. Probably also had pieces of each other when they couldn't get a seat in the game.
Otherwise, he was camping at Hansen's table to play HU PLO.
Galfond was very selective in the games he played and not battling it out with anyone / everyone. Fair play though, he was in the right place at the right time and left the game set up for life financially.
Nothing against the guy, he seems like a decent person. Albeit lacking in common sense to figure out that his marketing strategy for his poker site was never going to work.

Didnt galfond offered to take up anyone a couple of years ago even though he was barely playing? I cant imagine someone who is barely playing taking up everyone but when he was playing every day was afraid to take action. Either you like to battle or not, doubt you can ever change this
He played isildur1 when isi was obliterating everyone. Your statement doesnt hold much truth

Everyone was lining up to play him. In their eyes he was a "fish on a heater" and they knew at some point his luck would run out. Blom also played very lengthy sessions and there was a huge edge in showing up 12+ hours into his session.

I see, i understand your point of view. Well we will never know what was actually happening unless we find Galfond's matchups at that time
i railed (n played alot lower stakes at the time) and this isnt the case
even as u said currently and a few yrs ago Galfond has publicly announced he will play whoever whenever.
I dont remember Glafond ever trying to dodge games,,,,,maybe someone elese can show proof. Either ways he was there to make $$$ no ego.....
Phil is a PLO GOAT but his social media/business strategy especially on YouTube is pretty click baity.
No one is hating on Phil. How tf could anyone get that out of this thread. No one is perfect and no video is perfect either. A guy as meteoric as Isildur probably needs a 2hr documentary tbf. They could make an entire netflix series out of him and it wouldn't be boring
The team vs isildur result can be oversight but not mentioning it makes it seem like he was painting it his way. Public speaking involves considering optics, so I think it's fair for people to be expecting him to at least mention that Isildur's big demise was Hastings et al forming a little think tank to take him down.
This felt more like an interesting interview about a famous player than a documentary anyway, so it wasn't wholly necessary I guess.
except it wasnt...that hasting thing happened in like 2009 or 2010...Blom had million dollar bankrolls that he ran up multiples time up until like 2014. And multiple times he ran up 500k bankrolls in mixed games so dont give me that dumb reason that his HH was out there becaus that was only for PLO
stop trying to say otherwise

Galfond being some type of bumhunter is overlooked. First of all he was friends and came up with guys like durrr. Not wanting to play your friends doesn't make you a bumhunter. Second it wasn't like there were tons of guys playing those really highstakes. In reality he probably avoided Ivey, Antonius and his friends. Which to me doesn't make you a bumhunter.
He is not any different today, he avoids a relatively short list of regs.

Phil Galfond is the only bum hunter i know who actively challenges BERRI (the best player of all time) to a HU battle.
I could see how his videos come off as click bait but that’s just Phil’s video style which is a touch lame/goofy like with the video/sound effects, lol, but it’s well intended.
He also has hours of him playing jungle man hu where he explains in quite a lot of depth his thought process and it’s easily the highest level free content out there.
No other HS reg would put out material like that.
Blom has been impressive at this years WSOP. It looks like he has worked on his game and rededicated himself to poker again.
Thats gotta put him in the running for player of the year
Love the old school Isilduring: 1.5k -> 10k -> 50k -> 100k -> 250k -> ???? -> profit/busto
getting called a bumhunter because you don't want to play phil ivey is hilarious lol
came here to say huni is a luck box and that bracelet belongs to Blom
lets Go this

I wouldn't assume he was broke and came with 25K or had a backer, despite all he lost in a day or so at PLO. In most tournaments, you lose your buyin, so to play 250Ks you need lots of $s or to sell action. Not saying Isildur isn't gambling a big chunk of his bankroll.
I don't know if he is going to rebuy in the 250K, but I would think he could sell action in it at a markup.
Wonder who’s backing him?
