The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
checked capfriendly, leafs have a surprisingly high 18 million of cap space
this is a real opportunity for them to shore up their defense
then i imagine tavares retires after next season - if not then he'll definitely be signing for less - can't imagine resigning marner next year would cost anymore than he's already getting paid
if they can find some decent and cheap bottom 6 forwards, a passable goalie and a 2 good defenceman with that 18 million (definitely possible) then i'd say they'd be a top contender next season
that top 6 offense is terrifying they are like a slightly less top heavy version of the oilers
of course they'll instead give domi/bertuzzi/samsonov 5 million each and then hope to patch up the rest with AHL players

2. nylander, hmm ... 😒
3. lol domi
4. everyone below reaves should consider retirement, especially the last 2
5. timmins' sample size is low, but 60% xg is certainly intriguing
6. lmao rielly
7. klingberg really ****ed up by not taking that long-term offer whoever offered him a couple years ago, because he is WASHED
what say yall?
edit: 3 year sample
Giordano can’t be coming back again, can he?

whoa, no bad talking my best buddy Nylander! Noah Gregor is good and am a fan but up in the air if he will be a Leaf, more talk that he will not be :(
Florida just embarrassing themselves
Panthers need shots, especially now that they’re down.
to say the panthers PP looks non-threatening is an understatement.
yet more phantom calls in favour of edm, so weird...
Really weak call there for a penalty.
The Panthers need shots, they haven’t threatened at all despite having a lot of zone time, this is bad.

Things are picking up you say.....
blueline delays remain woat oat
lol wow florida just cannot catch a break now
oh snap
Always been a big fan of offside reviews
Congratulations Edmonton and Canada, finally getting the cup back.
can you explain why you lean so much into this stat
from my understanding, these things are highly situational, linemate dependent, and not very strong indicators - ie mcdavid will be used very differently from game to game and at away games is going to always have the nightmare matchup due to last change rules
i'm not trying to "call you out" or anything, just curious to know if there's a basis for this or it's just a shiny stat that you lean into
Lol I thought they turned the red light on after that Panthers chance but it's just an Oiler fan with an obnoxiously bright orange beanie
this would be a decent time for one of those ... what do you call them? oh yeah, power play goals
The Stress go oilers
