The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
People smarter at puck puck than me will probably disagree but oilers were the better team, mcdavid just flatlined midway through g6 and that was probably all she wrote
score and venue adjusted 5v5 xg
game 1: 61% oilers
game 2: 60% panthers
game 3: 52% panthers
game 4: 52% panthers
game 5: 74% panthers
game 6: 58% panthers
game 7: 63% oilers
series: 51.16% panthers
close series, but the team who was better in 5/7 games and overall taking it seems fair
some goalie on the ducks in 2003 won, i looked this up when i was sweating bullets
no one skater boi has won since 1976 on losing team
i assume that means someone that isnt goalie and not a boyfriend of avril lavigne
Being from Calgary I wouldn't have minded Edmonton winning but after they went down 3-0 in the series and all of their fans I know went on about how it's rigged and Bettman doesn't want a Canadian team to win, it was really enjoyable watching them get so close just to lose.
Edmonton should have scored when that dude lost his stick.
He lost his ****ing stick attack him at all times and if you fail then you suck.
Overall last nights game was so so. After the first I figured the Oilers were going to lose
I might have given the Conn Smythe to Bobroski . Sad to see Mcdavid not come out to accept it
Could not blame Nurse or Ceci or Skinner for this loss.
Future wise for the Oilers I think they need to find a way to get Campbell and Nurse off the payroll (15 million plus) and sadly I think you end up trading Leon if he doesn't resign to at least 3-4 years
This team could get there again
I agree you can't blame Skinner for the loss. Team needs to score more than 1 goal to win, but sadly he should've stopped the second goal.
has that ever happened before? tkachuk should just take it then
honestly kind of pathetic to not come pick it up
The only time I remember the loser winning conn smythe was Giguere and he definitely came out for it
Bad look for mcloser
I remember Giguere looked so sad picking it up. Brought a tear to my eye. The Devils all applauded him.
I understand McD not coming out, just like Rory at the US Open. It's just human.
Feel like the game winner was not a good goal for Skinner. Defense didn’t do him any favors on that play though either.
thinking about it last night, knew this series reminded me of something...

Confirmed not a good goal but I can see how it happens, Kulak backing up until he almost runs his own goalie is just a massive brainfart that is tough to get your head around
Been thinking about writing up an off-season thread just for the hell of it. Better move quick tho since everything is already happening
Why do we need a new thread? But if you do happen to start one, please link here, thank you.
Off Season Alert: Jeff Skinner to be bought out by Sabres
could be a slick pickup for someone. he can still score, but doesn't play any defense. hide him in the middle-6 on a good team and who knows, maybe he'd try
I saw an editorial on this and tend to agree after Connor Mcdavid didn't return to the ice to get the Conn Smythe which at first I was upset about it. But thinking about it I get why he didn't
Moving forward should the Conn Smythe only go to a member of the cup winning team?
Yeah, how can you go and pick up the Conn Smythe after losing a game 7? You’re not going to be smiling…probably literally going to be crying. Seems like a shitty time to receive that award if you’re on the losing team. But guaranteeing it to the winning team means it can’t be a true full playoffs award, so I don’t agree with that either. If you’re the loser, just accept it at the NHL awards later.
