the 2019 celtics say hello

but itll be an interesting week to see how knicks round this thing out

im generally in favor of dealing tons of picks for players as i think picks are overrated and it is harder than ever to identify which 19 year old is going to pan out

mikal bridges is definitely pushing it though....he's more of a #3 on a contender and he would be more like the #2 on knicks

1st option Brunson
2nd option Randle
3rd option Mikal Bridges who will NOT be asked to do ANY heavy lifting offensively

Your move counselor.

by Dgoat k

Who do they get for Randle ? Or would it just be picks?

no one that good, more of a salary dump

brunson has to be maxed next offseason, bridges has to be paid the offseason after that

OG has to be paid in like 20 minutes (his leverage just went up id say, knicks cant really afford to lose him now after they just went all in on bridges)

So Bridges or OG is starting at the 2? I dunno, this just seems like massive logjam.

Ideally Donte probably starts if you keep Randle but I think it is safe to say neither OG or Bridges is coming off the bench

Brunson is going to give the Knicks a discount by re-upping early. He loves it in NYC and wants to help out the team to become a winner.

Donte becomes Super Sixth Man, a la Ginobili

Starting 5 (if bringing back Hartenstein)
C - Hartenstein
PF - Randle
SF - OG
SG - Mikal
PG - Brunson

Nets should be forced to change their name to the New York Picks.

pickerbockers, i like it

Brunson reupping early would mean he can sign an extension for 4/156 right now

or wait a year and be eligible for 5/314 (if he makes all NBA again, which he should if he stays healthy)

he isn't re-signing early

I wonder how long Bridges consecutive games run will continue into this season?

Not if he passes to Mikal Brickes

Theyre going to get caught Venmoing Rick Brunson soon enough

Neither Thibs nor this GM will be there when those unprotected picks 7 years in the future come due. #FreeMoney

This plus we’ve seen that in five years there will be some other desperate team that you can get a giant haul from an even it out.

The nets literally just got all their picks from the Harden trade back with the Rockets in exchange for the Suns picks.

There’s so many bags of picks flying around that you’ll be able to get something back eventually, all you gotta do is avoid the combination of bad year AND good draft class and you’re fine.

Worst case scenario for NYK is probably PG going back to the Clips (or somewhere else). That leaves PHI with all that money and they're compelled to use it. They'll throw a max at OG even though it's an overpay with his history. If OG leaves, you just gave 6 picks up to move laterally.

One of IHart/Mitch is already gone for cap reasons. Feels like it would be IHart given his contract limitations but he's the one the Knicks would prefer to keep.

I love how you guys are all authorities on everything Knicks.

man if im the bucks GM im having some secret convos with the thunder and jazz about Giannis

trading for a top 5 player who is underpaid because of the individual max is so much better than a good but not great top 30 guy like bridges

That's a really interesting "what do you do if fan mobs aren't a thing" question. I'm not sure their GM can trade Giannis, but so much of the NBA is about realizing when your line up can't be saved, and hard pivoting out to get max value rather than languishing on in mediocrity.

If you're the Bucks, you're probably a firm 3rd-5th in the East and you don't have a ton of chances to drastically improve. Do you blow it up for a King's ransom to get away from the Dame/Giannis nonsense?

Giannis to Spurs.

Make it happen. they’d flop so HARD!

Bucks have a solid GM, who will likely look to retool and get younger around Giannis rather than sell him to the highest bidder.

Expect at least 2 out of 3 of Lopez, Portis, or Connaughton will be moved from their rotation guys of last year. Not sure if he has the guts to pull it off, but moving Dame to a contender for a younger wing scorer who isn’t viewed as high level yet could set the Bucks up well going forward.

A lot of interesting directions they could go with a retool, but the one thing you don’t do is Move a player of Giannis’ level. You’re never going to get fair value for him and it will take a long time to recover from a move like that.

What can Dame even net at this point? He's got 2/112M left on his deal (I'm assuming he takes his $58M option because duh)

He's such a liability on defense that I can't see too many teams giving up much of value for him and he's so expensive no one is trading for him in the hopes of resigning him.

To the right team, he would still net a lot. Don’t really see it happening, but just throwing out as the type of bold move the Bucks would make long before ever even remotely considering moving Giannis.

Spurs trading for Giannis would be hella dumb.

Well that would make things interesting.

Can Steph Curry overcome the failures of one Wayoff P !?!?

Tune in next season to find out!

I wonder if they’ll move Kuminga to acquire him. I guess that also means Klay won’t be back.
