2024 MLB Season Thread
Nobody wants these games to start more than Mannfred.
Shohei just spoke to the media for the first time. In a prepared statement, he said:
-He never bet on baseball, or any other sport,
-He didn't know that Ippei lied to him, and that Ippei took the money from Shohei's account to pay his gambling debts
-He'll continue to cooperate with the investigation, and play as the investigation plays out.
If all that's true, then this is probably the best possible outcome for his reputation going forward. He's a naive star athlete who trusted the wrong person. It happens.
In any event, these games are about start! Last year, just like we all predicted, "Someone Else" came on strong in the playoffs, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks for the World Series. Can that happen again?
T-Mobile is giving away a free MLB.tv subscription ($149 value) to T-Mobile subscribers starting TOMORROW (Tuesday 3/26 - April 1). Don't miss out.
So speaking of gambling, here are the current best odds for the World Series you can find, from Vegas insider!
boone out?
21 games over .500 with the goat offensive player in a generation and everyone in yankeeland running around like their hair is on fire after a bad 4 game stretch. that's entertainment
Giants vs Dodgers finish was awesome. A great way to honor Orlando Cepeda RIP.
how we party in queens when we're one game over .500

One game over. 500 means that should definitely start practicing how they would celebrate if they won the WS.
I proclaim that it is The Summer of Grimace!!!

What was the answer to the 40 doubles, steals question?

Wow I got this right, just checked it.
BTW.... Home Run Derby is changing format again,
I'm sure I've seen it, but don't have any memory of seeing the Jays at home day game with the roof open. Looks nice, announcers are as bad as I remember them to be.
The King's Speech
I read a biography and did a report on Lou Gehrig in the 7th grade. He instantly became my all-time fav player.
His strength and grace in a moment like that, in that life situation, is something that can inspire all of us. That can give us all hope.
PSA:
For those that have Fanatics Sportsbook, looks like they gave everyone a $5 bonus bet for 4th of July.

In 8th grade my my social studies teacher made us do a year long project on any historical 20th century figure. Pre internet essentially. I took Ruth and my friend took Gehrig.
You might remember this but most people won't know it-
After he was done playing and until about a month before he died Gehrig worked as a parole officer for NYC mostly working with troubled kids.
He was in terrible shape but wanted to do some public service.
He wasn't making much money doing it and turned down good money giving speeches to do it.
I actually never knew that (The book on Gehrig I read wasn't that big iirc). Thank you very much for sharing.
quoted for relevance
mini me was there again last night (I have no idea why lol)
said the place was almost deserted (no dodgers fans to fill the stadium this time)
the rockies blew ANOTHER 9th inning lead so maybe team Bidz should be banned from Rockies games?
if not and if mini-me is at the annual fireworks game tonight, tell him to watch them from the center or right field grass OR from the 1st baseline (upper deck is better fwiw). If u sit on the left side of Coors Field, the fireworks debris will reign down on u (don't ask how I know). sorry for late notice if relevant.
Rockies got a 4-3 lead heading to the 8th
Christian Walker > Dodgers
lol Mets. On your bike.
