lil lebron alone is probably worth 10+ million to the lakers - they'll be the focal point of media as well - he's massively valuable to them
there's a reason why his agents had to call up other teams to tell them "don't waste a 2nd round pick on him because he's not signing"
they knew he wasn't basketball good enough to be lottery pick, but any team in the nba would have happily spent a 2nd rounder on him for the marketing alone
Agree with it from a business perspective. You’re not even mentioning the fact that it lets them keep LeBron himself which is like 100s of mill in value.
But it does make it seem like BS when they say he “earned it” and whatnot.

Edwards had that 38 min 3 - 12 game against the Suns just a couple of weeks ago, so it remains to be seen whether he just stays at this level rest of the playoffs. But he’s clearly the first star since Jordan that has a chance to be universally beloved. He’s got bags of personality, no off court baggage, hugely competitive and it’s all that mid range work casuals wet themselves over.
Always cool to witness the start of something epic in sports.
