2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Seems fine to me. I lean AOC over Minshew, especially for the endgame, but that’s just my uninformed read.
I like the MHJ/Adams start. Doubt many are doing it.
Agree Bryce > Tank on your other team.
So I tanked and took Tua over Jayden despite not having Hill or Waddle. I just think Tua is better on DK and figured it would be easy to get Jonnu. My only dilemma was whether to take OBJ or Malik.
QB - Tua, Carr, Bryce
RB - ETN, Pacheco, Brooks, Dowdle, Guerendo, Sermon
WR - AJ, Olave, Terry, Godwin, Diontae, Shaheed, Jeudy, Malik
TE - Jonnu, Sanders, Fant
OBJ vs Malik seems like a coin flip. I’d have gone out of my way to add Wright too.
Drafted my least favorite team I think I’ve drafted so far in bbm
Qb - Purdy, Baker, Minshew
Rb - Henry, Najee, Brob, Vidal, Bucky
Wr - MHJ, Adams, Flowers, Godwin, Legette, Pearsall, McMillan, Raymond
Te - Kittle, Bowers
It's still pretty good. Your third QB may be a zero but he completes a nice stack if he's the guy. It's solidly correlated team.
Just for practice I did a 1 dollar on DK.
QB) Burrow, Purdy
RB) Montgomery, B Robinson, Charbonett, K Miller, Ty Chandler, Mclaughlin.
WR) Chase, Olave, Aiyuk, Pickens, Kirk, Burton, J Reynolds, Chark, Beckham
TE) Kittle, Jonnu, Gesicki
A lot of pieces fell right into my lap in this one. Although I did have to reach like 1.5 rounds to get Baker. Didn't want to risk losing him and I was happy with my main core at that point anyways.
QB - Trevor, Baker, Nix
RB - Barkley, Pollard, Javonte, Charb, LLoyd, Guerendo
WR - JJ, Evans, Kirk, Godwin, Diontae, Franklin, OBJ, Gallup
TE - Engram, Otton, Fant
Got sniped on a few guys for my 6th receiver so I took an extra wr.
Qb : Josh , Baker
Rb: Kamara , Connor, Brian Robinson jr , Chubb , Ray Davis
Wr : Wilson , Puka, Dj Moore , Godwin , Shakir , Wandale , Bateman, Boyd , Tolbert , Hyatt , MVS ,
Te : Ferguson , Muth

I might have taken another TE over MVS.
Happy with this one
QB - Trevor, Baker, Nix
RB - ETN, Walker, Javonte, Dobbins, Gray
WR - Chase, Waddle, Kirk, Godwin, Sutton, Cooks, Gabe, Franklin, McMillan
TE - LaPorta, Mayer, Dulcich
They have an option for either a 15 or 30 second clock. Or you can opt for a slow, but with it being 4 max entries, might as well do fasts.
This one is nice too.

Most of the data I’ve seen shows that 7-9 WRs is optimal. Granted, most of the analysis is from the perspective of UD’s 18 round drafts, but I’m thinking 11 WRs is overkill either way.
I agree with newguy on another TE or even another RB, especially having Chubb.

Getting Wilson and Puca is nice.
I think you need one more RB behind BR who you know is gonna get touches. Hopefully Ray will be that guy but he's a rookie so it's too early to tell. I might grab Chubb as my number 5 at the earliest.
I like that you snagged two quality TE's after not drafting an elite early.
It's a solid team.

Does your strategy change in a 4 max contest? I would think this is a "Take your guy's" type of contest and not worry so much about diversification.

Yea I didn’t know which way to go on the last pick . Figured it wouldn’t matter prolly.
Got my first chihuahua in, probably gonna do one more and head to the beach for the 4th
Feel good about this one
Qb - Kyler, Rodgers, Maye
Rb - Henry, Swift, Benson, Javonte, R Davis
Wr - Wilson, MHJ, Diggs, Keenan, Polk, D Robinson, Baker, Dortch
Te - Kittle, Schultz

The team I just drafted in the Chihuahua feels similar to yours. I like your TE's better. Nice team.
QB) Stroud, Rodgers, Maye
RB) Cook, R Stevenson, Benson, Spears, Charbonett
WR) Wilson, MHJ, Dell, Higgins, Sutton, D Douglas, J Baker
TE) Schultz, Henry, Conklin
I feel like a leak of mine is that I fail to get bring backs for game stacks. I could have taken K Coleman instead of R Stevenson. I could have taken Shakir instead of Sutton although Sutton does correlate with Higgins and I was starting to set up a potential Nix stack. I could have taken Tez Walker instead of adding to the NE stack with Baker.

I think it’s pretty good. You have a bring back too with cook to nyj. I agree I’d probably take Tez over baker since you already had 3 pats, but it’s not really a big deal and yeah shakir over Sutton would’ve been nice w the roster
Feel good about this one too, but wish I would’ve gotten more bring backs
Qb - Burrow, Watson, Maye
Rb - white, Walker, mostert, ekeler, foreman
Wr - Chase, waddle, Deebo, Kirk, Jeudy, Mwill, Pop, baker
Te - Kincaid, Otton
Does your strategy change in a 4 max contest? I would think this is a "Take your guy's" type of contest and not worry so much about diversification.
I think those two things are a byproduct of the shift in strategy, but I'm not sure they're the reasons for the change.
It's not necessarily about the contest max entry total, but what the lower max entry means for the contest size and change in advance rates. The Chihuahua is 2/12, 1/6, 1/6, and a 130 seat final. The Pit Bull is 2/12, 1/6, 1/5, and a 156 seat final.
1. The the higher percentage advance rates in w15 and w16 plus smaller seat finals mean that you don't necessarily have to always chase the penultimate upside, which can make it more about taking your guys. I really like to stretch ADP within tiers to try to get slightly more unique. I.e., something like pairing Chase, DJM, Kupp with your first 3 picks from the 1.04. DJM and Kupp will rarely be on the same team, especially paired with Chase, given their ADPs.
And since these contests will only be open for a day or 2, you don't have to worry about future ADP shifts messing up uniqueness.
2. W15 and w16 correlation do not matter at all. W17 correlation still matters, but it's not as important as the larger field finals.
3. I'll build higher floor teams hoping to focus on advancing from the draft pod into the easier w15 and w16 pods. I'll avoid the injured players like Chubb and Hock. I'll probably take slightly fewer rookies and less purely contingent RB players. The same goes for QBs like Maye or McCarthy. Chasing that upside isn't nearly as important.
4. My preferred build will probably be 3-5-7-3, even if I have an elite QB and/or elite TE. I'll probably aim to max out at 4 WRs through the first 7 rounds rather than pushing it to 5 or 6 like I do sometimes in the Puppys or other larger field contests. Ideally, I'd like to spread those other 3 picks into each of one of the other positions. I'll also focus more on bye week impact at RB and WR.
5. I think the optimal time to draft these contests is somewhere in the 30-80% fill range. Most sharps will either max out all of their entries near the beginning of contest drop or wait until the contest is nearly close.
Also, this isn't restricted to the 2 new contests, but from what I've seen so far on X, the sharper drafters are preferring the 15 second clocks. They've been grinding fantasy news for months, so they really don't have to think about each pick. They like the quicker draft time frames. It's possible the 30 second clocks will be a softer player pool. But it's tough to say right now with this being the first 2 contests with both 15 and 30 second clock options. I'm guessing most casuals will prefer 30 to 15 seconds when given the option.

This is great information.
Now I know why I was able to get Maye in round 18.
I think I'm gonna stick to the 30 second clock. I've had some miss click issues and I want to prepare for when I start drafting in the BBM.
Thanks!
No problem!
I just drafted a 30 second clock Chihuahua. Not my favorite team.
Lamar, Herbert
Mixon, Moss, Singletary, Gus, Chandler, Estime
JJ, Nabers, Pittman, Higgins, BTJ, Bateman, Boyd
Bowers, Likely, Gesicki
Pulled Nabers up to 19 then tacked on Pittman at 30.
Only 3 rookies, who were all first round draft picks.
Since I didn't need a third QB, I allocated to a 6th RB. Tez Walker, Chark, and Brendan Rice were on the board in the 18th, but opted for Estime over more correlation with my QBs. Doesn't feel great only having Herbert with Gus. I took Herbert with Gus mid-12th hoping QJ would come back to mid-13th.
I had also planned to set up AR with Pittman, but Lamar fell to 54 so opted for Lamar.

It's solid all around.
A pass catcher with Herbert would have been nice.
