NBA 2024-25 Season Thread
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
Bronny isn't a "real" 55th pick anyway. Something like that chart is entirely disingenuous. He was going to go well before #55 but Rich Paul navigated him to the Lakers, telling teams NOT to draft him.
klay probably knew he was sitting in crunch time because bronny matches up better defensively
thus mavs
250-1 for Bronny to win ROTY
Seems like a lock to me.
Buddy Hield to GSW. For those worried, they're still going to hoist a ton of 3s
I love Deuce McBride but he’s not exactly a backup point guard plus there’s only 96 minutes for guards during the season.
Brunson 35-36
Mikal 36-38
Donte the rest
If the Knicks can get Walker Kessler who is a starting caliber center with promise, I say let’s do it!
Magic max Franz, 5/270.
Uhhh wat
lol they think they got randle 2.0
Franz is 5/226 unless he makes an all nba, which he probably wont...and if he does, deal is probably worth it anyway
what is so bad about that? 22 year old versatile big wing with room for improvement on a team that has $ to blow? deal seems fine to me with cap going up
Anonoby just got 5/212 and he's a roleplayer and injury prone....Franz could be an all star in the east sooner than later

Franz is fine. Solid young player who's improving and is a positive at both ends, but it's more a reflection of the new CBA and how hard team construction is going to be.
You basically get two Max guys now. Can you win a title or ECF if your two max guys are Paolo and Franz? I find that a little hard to buy.
Well the rookie max is a little lower so you got more flexibility with that
Paying Fraz/Paolo 90 avg vs paying Tatum/Brown 120 avg is quite the difference, can't just call it 2 maxes
I mean if he's a top say, 35 player in the league, that deal seems totally fine. And that isn't an especially high bar to clear for him
the deals that seem brutal are the guys going for their 2nd maxes because they're likely done making real improvements (besides intangible/experience stuff) and are probably going to start declining/getting injuries by end of deal. Podcast P just got paid an AAV of 8m higher than Franz over the next 4 years despite the fact he is going to be 35 during 2nd round next year.
As far as larger question on what is the Magic ceiling? I dunno, in 3 years when Embiid/Giannis are old, Celts are broken up/reset a bit, Knicks are even getting older...Could the Magic peak and be the team in the east? Meh, doesn't seem that far fetched.
Magic/Thunder finals, that might be on peacock if thats the case
I think teachers should make $226,000,000
Sidebar: The wealthiest should be taxed and teachers should be compensated.
As far as the Franz Wagner deal... what's the alternative? Trade him? You sign him, you build continuity with your roster. I imagine Paolo really enjoys playing with him too. I don't mind the extension at all.

That's the point, there really is no alternative. You max him, you max Paolo, and you try and fill in the gaps. You can add a 3rd major player, but the rules are such you'd basically have to trade a bunch of pieces to get him and your options are limited.
It's a function of player Maxs. The best players should be getting way more but cant and "next tier" guys who shouldn't get full maxs end up getting them.
