O/U 3.5 days for the finish.

Line is set, let the betting commence.

So based on time stamp you set it @9:39 pm EDT July 7

I am in for the under - I think the line is good but she will sneak in there with the amt of pushing she has planned. She did not intend on racing this but is now obviously excited to see this thing through and wants 2nd

That line is set at about 143 miles/day. Good line, imo, given her race average of 124 miles/day. This allows for the sprint to the end factor, but also acknowledges the fact that bodies must be wearing out after 25+ days.

I'm tempted to take the under, as I've learned not to underestimate SPCs tenacity a couple of times before, but it's very close. My logic tells me that I should take the over since she already rode over 100 miles last night.

I guess I'll go with the over, but I definitely think she'll beat Turtle's prediction of 100 miles/day over the end here. I'll go with more than 3.5 days, but less than 4.

SPC is in the process of another 24 hr push. She will most likely end her day at mile 3199 which will be 204 miles. She sez last night trail had sections that were extremely slow going and it was tough. The high humidity/sweat/bugs made seeing difficult with her glasses. The guys got up and started at 2 am. Their longest rides have been 150 miles. SPC plans on riding hard till the finish. My $ is on her to dig deeper than they can even though they have 25 miles on her and

Is "riding as a team" just being overlooked by officials or will their avatars be changing to white eventually?

I mean, I don't think they're drafting on each other, or anything. They are often a mile or two apart. But they seem to be stopping at the same place every night and starting at about the same time every morning, so they are at least planning together.

It is being overlooked. There have been a number of things that the organizers have let slide even though in the rules it is not allowed. It is what it is. It is a bit annoying to spc She prefers the rules be followed since they are there. She has made it obvious that she is doing this thing 100% by herself. I was going to meet her in montana and hang out of a night. She told me not to just in case it looked bad - thats how she rolls. Only a handfull of people give a crap about the results and spc is keenly aware of this and will accept whatever happens. She has not and will not bring up rule violations by others.

At least you still get out there. Last time out for me was with you and JackCrack.

Funny story: Was playing with a client back in the 1980s and he always got frustrated. (I was playing close to scratch at the time and that probably contributed to his thinking his game was in the toilet)

Anyway, we get on the first tee and he finally asks me to help him score better than bogey golf. Frontside I got him to hit 5 iron off all the par fours/fives and then lay up to 100 yards with another 5... or

This post is GG approved.

i do not want to get into this buuuut. they are staying in the same hotel room. A girlfriend is in a car that happens to be traveling around the country and crossing paths with them. they have been provided with food when they were in the middle of nowhere. There is another group that was openly discussing drafting. So there has been plenty of rule "bending"

That sucks. You'd think the whole point would be to follow the spirit of the race/endeavor as it was intentioned.

GgogogoSPC!G

GG - I agree. That being said i think everyone has their own notion of self support. The food provided and the drafting were both documented in group chat. So the offenders did not think it was a problem

Yeah, that sucks. Drafting is specifically called at as against the rules. The food delivery I can sorta see as just being like the "trail angels," but I don't really buy it. Huge kudos to SPC for really being self supported.

Angle shooters exist everywhere. The worst is in an event like this.

I just received an email from Bovada that I am no longer welcome to play on their site due to my location. They are not hopeful for the future of online gambling in CO, are expecting further restrictions, and are proactively getting out in front of it. They're being nice and letting me play through the end of the month, but I only have until the end of day today to cash out [emoji854][emoji854][emoji854]

Looks like a classic set up.

Brag: Won a major tournament.

Beat: Will never be able to cash out.

Variance: Went into final hand as a 4:1 underdog.

I don't know if this is the worst, but it will happen when someone thinks the ends justify the means. And many people have a very low price tag.

So last ~week the $500K BBJ that we share with a handful of other rooms goes off at a neighbouring room. Story is that the guy who hit the big $250K end just kinda sat there slumped in his seat resigned to his fate as the rest of the table was celebrating.

He had self excluded himself from casinos and had gotten in that day using a fake id. Apparently his portion of the BBJ will instead get paid to a fund that is used to help out people with gambling addictions. Lol.

you did? congrats if so - how much?

I know some other guitarists musicians post here.

Get your azz to Sam Ash. Their initial sale was laughable. But they close in about 2.5 weeks and there is insane stuff now

Got a new bad cat amp for less than used. But the used stuff is extra crazy. 40% off used prices that are pretty fair. Like, it's not 40% off some phony price that doesn't exist, it's legit 40% off.

Got a guitar for $1200. New ones cost $3300. Unless it's custom, which I'm pretty sure it is. Those are like 5-8k.

Plus the staff is in eff it mode and threw in free straps and chords.

What guitar did you get?

Biggest annoyance with my current (and hopefully ~temporary) nerve injury is not being to noodle around on my guitars.

they are riding as a team.

wait what, team riding was expressly against the rules of the competition

i wanted to recruit a buddy to do it with me but he lost interest once he saw in the rules that we had to ride at least x amount of distance apart from each other so it'd just be solo and meeting up at agreed resting/sleeping places and it would be essentially as if we were doing it solo and occasionally meeting up

their anti-drafting rules were pretty extreme, so much that it would be difficult not to break accidentally if we tried to honor them while also keeping pace to have meals/hotels together - there was zero chance of "riding together" without breaking the rules dozens of times even by accident

it felt weird to do and i didn't understand why they would insist a month long bike ride without any social contact on the ride
you can easily ride together without drafting but they wanted a pretty serious gap between the riders to where you'd never see them

my pony is slow

Almost to PA! Hope the weather is cooperating. Had the weather channel on yesterday to check for a trip I'm going on, saw WV looked really bad with storms.

SPC got unlucky a couple of times yesterday: mechanical, weather, navigation. She had a great ride of 209 miles but she got to bed a bit later than she expected with all of the delays. After a solid 8hrs of sleep she feels recharged and ready to go. Her eating has been on point. She consumed 6k calories yesterday and is really focused on staying fueled for the final push.

She is confident she can make up the lost time of ballpark 5 hrs she is currently behind by doing a single sleep and being on the bike for the remainder. With her randoneurring background she has a fair amt of experience with 600k events. So this final 600k push she has what she feels is a solid game plan and the cards will fall where they will

Gogogogo

indeed!!!!

What’s the link to track again?

SPC currently seeking shelter from a T-storm. Looks like it will cost 1-2 hrs. She will try and nap it up. She had another great day of nutrition and is feeling strong. The pro biker that is now riding with support bonked super duper hard today. She posted some stuff on facebook and looks really rough and was unable to ride today. The guys seem to be pressing very hard and are looking strong

So I asked the guy if there was anything that he couldn't believe was still on the shelf. He pointed me to a Framus Diablo. I didn't know what it was.

Researched at home and it's a German brand that was once like the German Fender. Now it's a boutique run by the Warwick bass people. Glowing reviews.

It's absolutely the best guitar I've ever played. I haven't played lots of fancy stuff but it’s hard to imagine much better.

Not that it really matters a lot, but I would like to figure out if it is German team built ($3k) or master built ($5 to $8k).

They listed it as custom and it appears to be unique, suggesting the latter. But maybe not. Doesn't matter in that I love it equally either way, but would be cool to know if I have a $7k guitar.

Think I'm driving to the Arizona location on Monday. This gear is all kind of free in that you should easily be able to sell it at a small profit if need be.
