Trooper97 vlogs, discussions etc. will be allowed to continue in the new thread. That thread will not be unchained and I will work with the other LVL mods to keep it civil.

I personally am not going to allow a lot of the horrible posting that went on in the original thread to take place and I will be very generous with post deletions and bans if needed.

Posts the are overly derogatory, mean spirited, name calling (including using rude derivatives of names) , and demeaning posts towards any of the vloggers or posters in the thread will be deleted at the mods discretion. If any accounts persistently do this they will be banned or exiled from posting in this thread. In these cases we may issue a warning first.

Accounts that are used only to or substantially to troll post in this thread will be banned.

No personal family information or situations allowed in the thread.

OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

ROFL. Played poker for a little over two hours a few days ago. Needs a break already. But don't worry, after this latest break, the grind to $100k starts now!!!!!!!

Playing for quarters too stressful.

Playing for dollars could only be worse.

Really sad! Dude cant handle anything. How do young men get this weak from doing nothing?

This is the reason why pman can't win in poker

a self-proclaimed software engineer hasn't got a clue how to add a basic formula in Excel spreadsheet

you can't make this up

The issue seemed deeper than not knowing how to enter a formula.... he genuinely didn't seem to understand what numbers were even involved in the simple calc to figure out hourly win rate!

pman is special

Negreanu won a bracelet and a 7 figure score and will be roughly break even this summer.

Berkey is actually right. Cash is where it’s at, even if tourneys get all the glamour and press.

If DN lost/broke even every summer he'd be super happy. And that's fine . He should do what makes him happy.

But the people act like the bracelet proves he's an elite poker player are hilarious. I fail to see how an essentially break even series where you win a bracelet proves anything.

People play poker for 3 primary reasons:

1) to socialize (most players fall in this category)
2) to acquire money (usually a combination of 1 and 2)
3) for prestige/legacy/notoriety (smallest group)

For DNegs, he already has his money and financial security so the money aspect isn't his primary objective. It's why he bounces around from event to event putting in a lot of volume. He wants to win bracelets, even if he ends up unprofitable at the end of every WSOP.

We all knew it was coming.

ELD fans are bearing tidings of meatballs, cigars, plastic spoons, and mayonaise packets.

when i first heard of him i thought he was lame and just did cheap gimmicks

while i'm obviously not his target demographic and not a fan of his stuff, the more i learn about him, the more respect i have for the man

extremely hard worker

I recently saw a candy bar for sale in a Supermarket with his face and likeness all over the wrapper, a hard working influencer/promoter, indeed.

Unfortunately, his target demographic does not convert well into playing poker.

Phone numbers from MILFS from Iowa are following?

you should read up on him, super interesting person even though i find his content incredibly stupid and dull - he's legitimately built an empire

he has everything he's doing content wise already planned over a year in advance - hence why they do things like "make the world's largest burger" because you'll need your people to be coordinating the logistics and materials for that shoot well in advance

since what he does isn't really a standard thing, he had to kind of develop his own business model and workforce template, he's also fires anyone working for him who can't adapt and keep pace

guy invests most of his income into expanding, has dozens of channels etc, will do things like "let's translate our stuff into Hindu and test the results" they'll see what works and what doesn't and then if they start doing no hindu language stuff, hindu channel with subtitles, hindu channel with dubbing, or original hindu content then it's not on some whim but the result of careful a/b testing

he's basically rupert murdoch of the new generation but instead of revolutionizing tabloids and cable tv he focuses on online content and unlike rupert murdoch who was born an oligarch, mr beast is broke community college dropout who just followed his real passion and just outworked and out strategized all his competition

guy never takes a day off

This, why be good at poker when you can pretend to be and everyone but your peers will think your elite

Winning the PPC makes you elite.

(Would be interested in hearing how you define elite and who’s in that category of players)

My point was adding to the point of how tournament players are just constantly chasing barely break even.

1) to socialize (most players fall in this category)
2) to acquire money (usually a combination of 1 and 2)
3) for prestige/legacy/notoriety (smallest group)

People play poker for other reasons besides the ones you've listed:
• They enjoy the intellectual challenge—same as playing chess or doing crossword puzzles
• They enjoy the competition and the experience of winning—same as playing sports or video games
• They enjoy the excitement of gambling—same as playing any other casino game or making any sports bet
• They enjoy the fantasy of hitting a jackpot or binking a tournament for a life-changing score—same as buying a lottery ticket
• They enjoy the escape from their daily routine and obligations—same as drinking or doing drugs
• They are addicted and couldn't stop even if they tried

I'm sure there are other common reasons. And most people play for their own unique combination of reasons.

For more on this topic, I recommend The Psychology of Poker, by Alan Schoonmaker.

Lolz at winning a poker tournament makes you elite. Guess freedy deeb should be named the goat.

The whole tournament scene is a joke and always has been. I realised very early on that it's just a lottery for poker players who want to make a name for themselves. The only real winners are the event organisers and the lucky few players who manage to sun run early on in their "career"

Although these days instead of the dream being to get a lucrative poker sponsorship it's now to become famous on social media or YouTube and then have followers support their buy-ins and expenses.

Not saying there aren't skilled players that will have an edge over the field. But after rake, expenses and taxes any remaining EV would be dwarfed by the enormous variance in these events. The whole hendon mob thing is hilarious. There are thousands of players with 7 or 8 figures in winnings, but only a small fraction of them would actually be in profit.

Narcissist is the word. DN is equally insufferable regardless of whether he's winning or losing. When he wins you have to hear about how great he is and how it's impossible to fluke such and such tournament. Non stop gloating and rubbing it in all his "haters" faces on twitter and his vlog. I mean who else does that when they win an a bracelet? At the table you see him being a major douche when he's winning. He has a special way of making people feel even worse when he beats them in a big pot. Of course he doesn't do that against other big name pros, just people below him on the food chain.

Of course when he loses it's just non stop tantrums, constant whining and bitching about how he is the unluckiest player to ever play the game. It's like he doesn't have an ounce of humility or appreciation for the absurd amount of luck he has had throughout his career to be in the position that he is.

Oh I'm sure many players ore guilty of the same, we just don't hear about them

I still remember Joe Hachem playing some random tournament not even two weeks after his main event bink, losing a 60/40 and throwing a tantrum lamenting how bad he runs

tbf, that was probably the first flip he lost since he entered the main event so understandably he was shocked to discover this possibility

And there were only 89 players in the field. The number of events some of these guys play, of course they have to eventually win a few.

He's not wrong..... must be tough for him now that he will get zero women and a 'blow' to the ego that he is not being propositioned by guys. El D probably in a similar situation

He's chasing glory. He wants to win as many, and as prestigious bracelets as possible. If he were more interested in his ROI he would be more selective.
