I accidentally “invest “ in bitcoins, it was around 2016 I wanted to deposit into online poker, so I swapped 3k cash for bitcoins with a friend. Price was like 600ish during that time . I don’t rmr exactly why I didn’t deposit into the site, I just know had some serious things to deal with.

I then got into a lot of debt problems owing in the low 5 figures, so yeah those bitcoins kinda just erased from my memory , funny thing is down the years I saw some ig posts about crypto nft etc but have 0 memory about my bitcoins.

It was until last year when I met the guy that sends me the btc, he then brought up that one time we swap btcs. I went searching and found it alas, it was value at 185k.

I then started gambling annd btcs spike, my net worth peaked at 400k weeks after the Super Bowl. Now it’s at less than 100k .. gonna run it back up when mlb season starts.

I don't remember this, but it is a huge, old thread after all. Anyway, it'd be nice if everyone used the thread as it was intended (i.e. for degen stories). So we would like to limit the clutter somewhat. That said, I won't be deleting screenshots of sports bets if they are part of a good story - unless someone will point out to me or the other mods that these posts are violating a rule.

I believe this scenario was small stakes 25/50 blinds so technically only a $6.25 straddle but worthy of a degen story post in my opinion.

Some epic **** here in this thread overall , but not much lately. My first post here ever ... see how it goes ... I've played poker online back during the boom and live cash games in AC since Borgata opened and even a few times in the Taj back in the day ... losing player overall but never to the point of anything completely degenerate , my bills paid , life in order , do some occasional sports betting ... have some interesting stories from AC back in the day ... but this story of degeneracy takes place in late January 2020.... The time just after Trump blew up the Iranian General and right before Covid ****ed up the world within a matter of weeks .... Here goes : I'm out in NJ. At my then girlfriends place for the weekend. Shes a very pretty Latina from Central America. Pretty face , curvy in all the right places ... I once almost got into a fight with a guy at Borgata in the poker room who said she should come sit on his lap when she was watching me play 2/5 NL ... I got in his face verbally , he shut up , and it didn't escalate ... So that weekend to be at her place my cover story for my wife was that I'd be ... "Playing poker at Borgata." ... I'm really busy with GF all day that Saturday , going out drinking , having fun outside. We get back to her place and I'm not completely ****ed up , but close , and sex isn't going to be an option for a few hours ... at least ... She has something to eat , goes to bed , tells me to come get some sleep. I grab the half liter of Grey Goose that I bought earlier and we have left , some OJ , make a drink , tell her I have to take a **** first , then go into her bathroom with my drink and my cellphone. Sit on the bowl , until my legs get numb and can't **** ... but I put $300 onto Pokerstars. Don't feel like grinding , so gonna be lazy and play live dealer roulette. Strategy is to make $1 bets on 20 numbers per spin , same numbers , so every hit will bring me a small profit and every miss doesn't risk much. I got half the numbers covered , plus 1.... If I can double my money or even better , hit 1k I'll be happy ... I sit on that ****ing toilet for an hour and a half with my strategy and nurse that drink ... By the time I got to get up to let the blood flow back into my legs and fix another drink I have about $700 or so... Leave bathroom and after nursing a drink for an hour and a half I make up for lost time drinking 3 drinks in about the next 15 to minutes... I'm increasing the size of my bets to $2 , $3 , sometimes $5 all on the 20 numbers. By the time the alcohol gets me to the point of talking to myself , God , my phone , the croupier who can't hear me , I have about $2700 or so. Just for fun I place 100 chips on a few numbers I like then double it , then triple it to 300 a number with the whole 2700 there in one shot. Even drunk I realize thats ****ing stupid and I start removing the bets. I'm so ****ed up I forgot or didn't see that you can just click a button and wipe the board clean. I start manually removing the bets off the numbers but I leave 1 $300 bet on a single number behind , and don't even realize it. Next thing I see , I have over $13k ... or is it 1.3k ... did I lose/win? If I won how ... then I see what happened ... the number hit! No ****ing way! I have another drink to celebrate. Bottles almost empty.... I play some more , run it up to just over 15k ... Now I realize it's time to stop ****ing around and stop. 15k from 300 bucks ... I can use that money ... BUT , NEVER stop when you are hitting numbers , play until you miss one. So now I'm betting about 1k a spin , and I lose next spin. Ok , got 14k or so , stop ... but no .... another spin ... loss. Now 13k ... another loss. 12k ... I swear to myself I'm stopping at 10k. Of course like every degenerate I'm not happy to be up what Im up , I'm more fixated on the money I just blew back.... I don't hit another ****ing number until I'm down to about 3k. I get it back to 5k , again betting big , not the $20 bullshit , back down to 3k , then bet it all on Red to try and double it at least back to 6k ... I'm physically sweating at this point and I can feel a look on my face like I'm about to take the Dead Mans Walk into the death chamber ... Black comes up ... I'm at 0... I'm sick ... only technically lost 300 but was at about 15k at one point which I could have transfered to my bank account with a few clicks and had real cash in my hand in a day , or a few days , later.... I just want to leave and go home but I'm too ****ed up to drive ... I go to bed , don't say a word to GF about what happened.... In the morning I eat breakfast with her then cut out saying I'm sick. She's not pissed but I can tell shes upset we didnt spend Sunday together as planned .... She has no idea what happened ... No sex that weekend , I got a hangover , I'm replaying what happened in my mind over and over ... Get back to Brooklyn , look for parking forever , get home ... Wife wants to know what happened ... I tell her the bad news is I didn't win anything , but the good news is I only lost around $500 ($300 plus tolls , drinks on Saturday , etc) ... So she aks how the **** I went to AC Friday night , came home Sunday afternoon , and in all that time I didn't make ANY money when I'm supposed to be so "good at poker" (sarcastically) ... "Well..." , I answer , "At one point I was up about $700 bucks and I was grinding , but I lost the $700 slowly over time then lost the other $500 when I had my pocket Kings cracked by some dickhead who went all in with an Ace Duece and hit his ****ing Ace on the Flop." I then curse out this fictional donk , curse my shitty luck ... get the cold shoulder the rest of the day and go to work Monday still thinking about what happened , and to this very day that loss has left a permanent hole not just in my heart , but in my soul.

Wow this was an insane read. Taking out $400k in loans to gamble down to one of your last $750 bullets and getting a miracle run back to $480k then giving it all back.
