WNBA 2024
angel reese is giving Caitlin Clark a run for rookie of the year
I feel like this is a troll but he's so committed to the bit I can't tell.
MVP voters in every sport every year: Will the voters get it right or will they vote for narrative or for the guy who wasn't already won't two-in-a-row just for a new winner?
MVP voters in the WNBA: We used only the finest analytics here
This is not a troll or a bit. I actually put money on this.
We're talking ROY not MVP.
There's a big difference between voting for a "narrative" or the "finest analytics" and voting based on attendance as rickroll suggests. If the award is for narrative, then yes Clark will probably win. I'm hoping the voters are better than that, but sure I could be wrong.

I mean, don't we know by this point they aren't?
Anything even remotely close is going to to CC. Like someone else said, your best bet is CHI makes a playoff push and IND misses out. If they both make it and CC puts up another TD or something. I can't see a world in which you aren't cooked.
my offer to book your action stands swann
Shottie a piece of that action, rick.
crazy that angel Reese has played only 20 games in her entire career and already has the record for 13 double doubles in a row.
and the previous record was 9 in a row for a single season
they could have made up MVPs and ROYs in previous seasons and no one would have known
gentle reminder that the fever won 13 games last year for a .325 record
they've already won 9 this year and have a .409 record (but have played quite a few more road games than at home)
compare that to the sky who added cardosa and reese and were .450 last year and are worse this year with a .400 record (equal number of home and away games)
barring an injury, cc gonna get ROY and spit on that thang
watch out kev, you're going to get lectured that the award isn't given out for dribbling
If Clark doesnt win ROY, she’s gona speak to the manager
player of the week
that weave deserves an award of its own
Reese has major Rodman/Tayshaun Prince type value, doesn't she? I think she is better than her stats for her influence on the game, and CC is considerably worse than her stats as generally viewed.

she's been getting double and even triple teamed, so that's gonna open up opportunities for her teammates.
her teammates love her. her coach loves her. she's a team leader(as a rookie).
her teams have a history of winning. in 2023 her team beat CC's team for national championship.
in 2024 CC's team beat her team in the round of 8(iirc), but angel hurt her ankle early in the game, and played hurt.
iowa likely wouldn't have even made the tourney if not for cc
lsu was going to be a top 10 team with or without angel
was CC highly recruited? if so, why did she pick a team that wouldn't even make the tourney without her?

yes, she was a 5 star recruit, she could have played anywhere she wanted
her iowa team outside of her was not very good
women's college basketball tends to form super teams - that's the main thing that made caitlin so special, was she did so much with so little and most girls in her situation would have gone to a super team
when she joined Iowa as a freshman, they had failed to make the tourney the year before
unheard of for a 5 star top recruit like her to join a team that bad but she did it anyway
wow, good for her!
thanks for the answer rick
i think she had some family or local connection - hence the choice to stick with iowa
iowa has had good teams in the past as well so it wasn't like she went to a terrible situation, but she joined a team not even in the top 60ish the year before and during her tenure was never able to lure in any other top players
