JJ UTG when you're straddling 1/2 NL
I was playing 1/2 NL last night at Mohegan. I straddled. 4 people just called and I looked down at JJ. I only had 45 in front of me. I made it 16 and got 1 call.
The flop was AA4. Now what? I can't check fold. I think here it's mandatory I just put my chips in.
Would I had been better off jamming pre flop and taking the $4 from each of the 4 callers?

Yes, there's more than enough dead money to jam with such a vulnerable hand. If you get called you're almost always ahead, if everyone folds you're also pretty happy.
In theory there are lots of spots where we jam 100bb over a 12bb 3bet. The 3bettor's range is uncapped (can have AA/KK) in this case - so in your case where ranges are more capped and you're risking less, it's really a no brainer.
As played, just bet small on the flop and try to get all in by the river. You're going to get stacked by Ax anyway, so your goal is to maximise value against worse pairs.
Btw the ace pairing on the flop is also good for your hand, because the caller will have less combos of Ax.
Just jam preflop, taking 16 dollars (without a drop, I assume) is a great result for your stack size.
Jam and don't think twice.
Why are you stradling?
Straddling for 10% of your stack in a game that rakes 20% of your stack per pot , whats it matter, seems like its gambol time. We might as well be talking strategy at the bingo parlor.
I don't normally straddle. It's just something I was feeling at that moment. No one was straddling at all. Honestly JJ on the straddle is a dream. More times than not your gonna not have anything there
Well of course, but JJ is a great hand whether you are 10BB deep or 300BB deep although it has slightly different properties.
At 10BB deep - which you are - what hands are you just going to shove? Pretty unusual situation without ICM effects.
Don't have 45 in front of you.
Don't straddle for almost 10% of your stack.
Don't raise 16 into a limped pot of 20+ preflop.
Post flop is whatever.
Yes, I would've definitely jammed my remaining stack with JJ on the straddle.
