Yes, It cost $10K USD, they give you 1 after you register.

Sick. Never seen one.

They should make a shirt or jacket for only the final table players. Ultimate flex.

I mean it sounds kinda stupid and weird but when you think about it the real pay jumps are when people have way less than that.

Also consider that a ton of pros believe it’s best to late reg in the levels that end up giving you 30-50bbs.

Only if that gets you a lot closer to money and the field is super tough.

This is not true at all in main event where there is massive value in Day 1.

Average BB is 400 for the day? 10hours of play no rake top crusher makes maybe 20bb/hr so 200bb chipEV so 80k chips.

Yeah so the top pros basically get a doublestack on average just by going through the day 1. Thats actually sick. Would be stupid for them to latereg for short stack.

Catching up on the last level from last night on PokerGo, quite the table with Little, Elezra, Yang and others.

Yang with the full cover up. lol

You're probably right in your value estimate but I'm also sure a guy like ivey can make more than 10k in 10 hours at a cash game table or elsewhere. Even if they knew their expected value starting on time was double the starting stack, I'd imagine a lot of them would still late reg.

Sure but 99.9 percent of pros can't make that much in EV.

The late reg line is insanely long. Record is getting smashed easy.

I heard someone say that Day 2 late-reggers are being sat together at same tables, can anyone confirm or deny this? Usually they just get mixed into the entire field. But if there are hundreds of late-reggers, I guess I could see where a bunch of tables are set aside for them, not sure if it's fair that they get to avoid possible big stack pressure when late-regging Day 2. But again, this rumor could be complete hogwash.

Ya $10k is a lot for many. I'm sure a lot of recs would love to play in the main event. Maybe the wsop needs to host some bar league type qualifiers across the country, not sure on legality of something like that though.

We need online poker legalized in the vast majority of states in the US so they can start giving away ME packages again and running ME satellites all year long. Then you will see the numbers spike again.

Yes on pokernews chip count section but there is not all players on these first days.

Thanks mate! I missed that feature.

The lack of seat shuffling one of the reasons I'm sus of mystery bounties

Wouldn't be surprised to see main event numbers about 20,000 if it was legalized, but I'm not optimistic it would ever happen.

Looks like they are starting on time today at 3:30pm, the engineer made it today, that is the reason they were late yesterday.

Ok I did hard work and went through of every year of PokerNews Main Event reports with modern stacks but I understand now that you cant trust anything coming out of that site.

Was everyone donking off so much more back then or was the blinds increasing faster?

I'm impressed that you did all that work. I of all people really appreciate the effort.

I go with the official WSOP chip counts when available, but I have other sources for older Main Events. ("Main Event Chip Leaders by Day" is one of my 100+ spreadsheets that I've been trying to fill in over the years... just a few holes now, mostly in 1989-99).

Yes, the Moneymaker poker boom era was truly the golden era for fish, especially in the Main Event.

Most of them are Kick Streamer, and they all have some commonality. I'll let you figure it out.

by brianr k

Whatever point you are trying to make isn’t being made because nobody has ever heard of any of these people and don’t care enough to go on some google scavenger hunt to find out.

When I think of Kick streamers, well, let's just say I'm glad there will be no children allowed in the card room where this game would take place.

“Dealers, start dealing” LOL.

Poker is alive!

I don’t understand why it’s such a revelation that people were not that good 20+ years ago. There was no software, no content online, barely any footage of pros playing with hole cards, no training. Just a few books written by people who you just had to take their word for that they knew what they were talking about. No one really compares sports athletes of today to ones many years ago other than the extreme outliers (Jordan, etc…😉

Ivey's table looks soft AF. lol
