U.S. is among the worst in the world at solving murders
.
the % or murders which were solved or cleared in the U.S. dropped below 50% in 2020
"and several big cities including Chicago have seen the number of murder cases that result in at least one arrest dip into the low to mid 30s range"
lots of killers still out there - thousands and thousands of them

Saw on the news that Chicago had over 100 shootings and I think it was 17 deaths in a weekend ?
How many murders are gang related as well ?

Are you asking because you want to see how many people the state failed such that they joined a gang?
I think that's a good question.
Who is responsible for creating the atmosphere that drives our children and young adults into gangs?
I read that in a couple major cities, african american murders were solved less than 10% of the time, much different % for other races
No snitchin'.

I think if the government paid for their hookers and blow, they'd just get a Netflix & chill instead of running the streets blasting each other with dracos.
Mayors of cities and other Powers That Be know that they cannot solve a high % of homicides with the current level of manpower
yet they don't increase the manpower
the only conclusion that can be drawn:
the low % of solved homicides is totally acceptable to the various Powers That Be

I think society is at fault creating little to no opportunity for these individuals. If you try and have an honest conversation on it as well your deemed a racist . Guns are definitely an issue as well
Sadly both parties are more concerned with other matters that they will throw billions of $$ at but not this
I think we have a caste system in America and some castes have been beaten down for so long that they are ok with the idea of dying selling drugs or doing gang stuff.

even though the no. of homicides in the U.S. has dropped there were still about 18,450 in 2023
it works out to be an average of about 50 per day___________unreal
and due to the low closure rate there are prolly at least 9,000 of last year's killers still out there
and that's just one year's worth

they'd rather spend tens of millions on catching a few subway fare jumpers. it takes at least a medium level of intelligence to actually solve crimes, police forces aren't typical known for that.
I imagine the efficient use of resources has increased significantly since adding 300k abortions into the mix and requiring the police to investigate a portion of them as murders.
#1 at true crime podcasts, though
yeah we know how to use propaganda to make the cops look better. i love those true crime stories where they talk about how relentlessly the cops tracked this super genius serial killer, and then you also see that the neighbor called 8 times about a rotting body smell and no one bothered to knock on the door.

We spend a lot on police compared to other countries.
I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the types of murders. Lots of gangs, lots of shootings. Hard to solve some anonymous shooting.
In other countries probably a higher % of the murders are like husbands and wives, bar fights gone too far, etc.
We do get a few freebees from mass shootings, though.
USA#1 has only the smartest killers. The best anywhere. Very stable geniuses.
Isn't everyone on camera now the second they leave their house? Why isn't all this surveillance leading to more solved cases?
Law enforcement uses more practical tech in the form of fake cell towers, gun shot detectors, and cameras in targeted spots.
NSA has all the metadata, and could theoretically approximate everything that ever happened or will happen and be infinitely powerful. I don't think they'll never have the tech to model the data or even come close to doing that.
The NSA collects all data, but we don't use it. Most people are also probably on camera in their house.
Local law enforcement can go around asking for footage from doorbell cameras etc. and get court orders for such. I think these cops are just lazy and stupid. Not to mention that pathetic display of cowardice at Uvalde. The cops now are people who just desperately want to win every petty argument. They are politicized before they join. Cops didn't used to be like this or not so much like this. I remember being in some fast food joint like 15 years ago and I looked up to see a cluster of cops and like each one looked roided out and tattooed up and it was a little odd. Now it's standard. You can just take one look at these current cops and know they got in the field for all the wrong reasons.
Maybe this belongs in the fringe conspiracy thread, but I think this shift in the kinds of cops we have is intentional. I'm thinking these are the kind of cops the technocrats think are going to be good at suppressing mass protests and social unrest. The militarization of police is undoubtedly real. We see the equipment and the tactics evolving. What about HR? That has to change too and these moronic, heavy handed, last-word-craving, shaved headed freaks are that evolution. They are here for when the inequality squeeze comes for you and you conjure up the audacity to say complain about it. They aren't here to solve crimes or do anything for us.

I would say you start with the parents. I don't buy the "creating the atmoshere" nonsense at all. People blame the government for way too much. Those who think gov is the problem are the same ones advocating for the government to fix the problem. it's lefty bs.
you can also blame Miranda for our shitty crime stats.

Well stop and frisk is a perfect example that what you suggest is true. People would rather have a high homicide rate than to have their rights violated. It's not even close actually.
And that pesky right to trial. If we just threw everyone we arrested in prison for life, our conviction rate would be 100%!
You should read Do-Gooders by Mona Charen where she discusses how low crime rates compelled Liberals to want to empty the prisons. They reasoned that people shouldnt be punished when there is low crime. The reality was that crime rates were low because people were locked up. Try explaining that to a liberal though.

For the benefit of the hard of understanding: we are talking about pre-conviction rights, not post-conviction sentencing severity. Try explaining basic concepts about the criminal justice system to a right winger though, they just want to argue that locking people up is a good thing and don't care who they lock up or how it's accomplished.
