2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
You guys don’t think Bush Jr. was an awful president?
I get thinking Bush Sr. wasn’t so bad but his son was significantly worse than his father IMO.
yes i though we hit the nut low with jr at that time.
boy was i far off being right.
its like the rule of the game change and they put a joker in the card deck...
So you missed where Trump's lawyers specifically brought up that he would be immune if he sent the Navy Seals to assassinate his rivals? It was even mentioned in the dissenting opinion.
That's what trump's lawyers said. That's not at all what the decision said
Assassinating rivals could not be an official act and therefore he wouldn't have immunity

until I do a deep dive,I agree with mets. Well, assassinating rivals COULD be an official act, and if it was, it would be legal. But not assassinations of rivals can be official acts, I think thats where we see a difference here
I think justice SM asked them about the prez assasinating rivals and trumps sides response was well it could be.
actually maybe it couldnt be.
What if the rival was an american running for the office of president while waging jihad against america? Both trump and obama killed americans waging jihad during both wars, and none of those 4+ deaths were as the result of a trial
one could argue that those were official acts
Assassinating terrorists is of course an official act and guess who gets to decide who the terrorists are (SPOILER: it's ya boy Trump)
The fear mongering is strong here
Something tells me you like Trump for more than just crypto. You don't seem to have a very open mind about criticisms of him. In fact your only responses seems to be "I'm not concerned about that", "I don't like those accusations" and "but Biden". Spoiler: none of the people ITT are Biden fans, they just understand that Trump is a danger to democracy. You've already made it pretty clear you are happy with Trump as a dictator though.
You are correct. He's also very good for the lolz. Politicians are all crooks so if they at least bring some humor to the day, that's good too. Look at Rob Ford in Toronto. Amazing for the lolz. The only problem with this argument is Biden may actually be passing Trump in that category now.

So your whole bit about warmongering was just bullshit then?

You were the kid who played on the railway tracks for the lols, weren't you?
I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion unless you had a mat that you could jump to.
You do realize 2p2 is primarily a forum for gamblers right? I've stated before I think the risks of a dictator/fascist/assassin/insert buzz word Trump presidency are low, and the rewards far outweigh those risks.

How much research have you done on January 6? Have you spent hours researching the facts, or do you just hand wave it as buzz word salad?

Most gamblers are bad at it, as you've aptly demonstrated with this risk assessment. In any case, you haven't once said that Trump being those things is a bad thing, so I don't even understand why you're calling it "risk". Sounds like reward-reward.

There is no guarantee Trump will support crypto. Hes actually said the opposite in every situation that he wasn't actively trying to dupe voters.
But even if Trump comes in and levers the market and everything moons, we already know that will come at the cost of inflation and erosion of the middle and lower classes.

You're right. He wasn't pro last term. But he also wasn't actively against it. The Biden admin is.
The GOP platform released yesterday and posted in thread is pro. Yes, it could just be word salad to dupe voters.
Biden vetoed the SAB-121 repeal last month. Tomorrow the House is voting on it again. Wouldn't be surprised to see a > 2/3 majority this time as a cockpunch to the Biden/Warren admin. We'll see how much House Democrats still cater to dear leader.

Wait
You honestly believe trump would be worse for inflation than biden?
I just can't

You are talking as if a Trump presidency would result in one of two binary outcomes -- either complete degradation of democratic norms or no degradation of democratic norms. Incremental degradation, which is still a terrible outcome, is much more likely. And even if the outcome were binary, the conventional wisdom is that humans tend to underestimate the risk of low probability, high severity events.
I also don't see much in the way of rewards. In terms of execution, Trump's first term was a case study in incompetence. That isn't likely to improve the next time around. At least some adults were willing to participate in his first administration. That won't be true if he wins a second time. Trump's radioactivity is well-established now. Very few people with a reputation to preserve are willing to tether themselves to him.
