2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Last year was my first year playing best ball. I fired roughy 200 teams. I ran hot and made the finals of Puppy 3. Finished 8th on the backs of CD and Davante.
This was my team.
Dak, Baker
Breece, Monty, Bigsby, Gainwell, Mostert, Chuba
CD, Davante, Watson, Godwin, Evans, Cooks, Jamo
Kincaid, Juwan, Henry
It was a sweat fading Reed and Love on MNF. Reed left injured and Love was pulled with a big lead. I beat out 9th by .36. He had Love.
Nice congrats .
I made the finals on dk 2 years ago but my only qb was Burrow and I got Demar Hamlin .
I got 2nd or 3rd in one of underdogs mid season tournaments a few years back.
Got 5th in nba this year . Hopefully one of us smashes something this year .

Appreciate it. Sounds like you’ve had some nice runs too. That’s brutal for Burrow. So many best ballers have what ifs from that game.
Would be fun if all of us have some w17 sweats.

Forgot to mention . Burrow was my only healthy qb too.
I actually should have won nba for 6 figures if jokic and Wemby don’t miss a game in fairly certain I win . But alas .
Did you have anyone else in that game or just Burrow? Although, I guess with him being your only QB, you would be adding 100% of his points to your finish even if other teams had more pieces.
Having both Jokic and Wemby seems good haha. I don’t ply NBA. Was Jokic 1.01? Where was Wemby drafted? Sucks they couldn’t go all 82.

Wemby went late round 2 early round 3. And jokic went top 3 overall.
And I feel like I prolly had Higgins and burrow . Maybe a bill too. I can’t pull the team up to remember .
QB - Kyler, Geno, Nix
RB - JT, Kamara, Zeke, Gus, Herbert
WR - Puka, DK, Terry, Sutton, Cooks, M. Wilson, Mims, Zay, Hyatt, Malik
TE - McBride, Bowers
I think it must come down to how 3 separate stacked QBs raises both your floor and your ceiling, especially for the playoff weeks. Honestly, I've still been trying to work through it, but I've been building more 3-5-7-3 teams, as I think similar principles can be applied to TE.
He also made the posts below, which I think helps support it further.
And then this.
BBM draft 2. slot 7
This team was interesting. I guess I have a bet on the Arizona/Rams and Minn/Packers week seventeen games. Per usual I waited too long on getting a second QB. I drafted Mooney with the hopes I could get Cousins when it came back to pair with Bijan but it didn't work. There were a bunch of QBs who went in round 14 but I had zero correlation with them. I grabbed Maye with the idea of maybe getting Baker and another Patriot receiver but Baker went earlier than normal. I don't hate getting Bourne to go with him. I need to do a better job of planning out my second and third QB options. I went with 6 RBs because Brooks and Benson may take a while to get going. Chandler fell in ADP and worked in correlating with the other guys from that game. I grabbed my first Doubs another pick past ADP and fits in with the team.
I regret not getting a more secure second QB or a third after taking Maye. Hopefully Kyler does his job.
QB) Kyler, Maye
RB) Bijan, Brooks, Benson, Elliot, Lloyd, Chandler
WR) Harrison, Kupp, J Reed, Addison, Doubs, Mooney, L McCaffery, Bourne
TE) Mcbride, J Woods.
Qb - Stroud, Geno, JJ
Rb - A Jones, Zamir, Spears, Lloyd, Vidal
Wr - JJ, Collins, DK, Pittman, Lockett, Bateman, Tez Walker, N Brown
Te - Kincaid, Schultz
W14 may be a little rough for me haha

It’s solid. Qb is a little too weak, but should be good everywhere else. Maye and Kyler could also outperform and not be an issue
Really happy with this one
Qb - Love, Caleb, Dimes
Rb - JT, Moss, Zeke, Chandler, Wright
Wr - Chase, Nabers, Keenan, Addison, Watson, Mims, Slayton, Hyatt
Te - Andrews, Musgrave
Got a phone call that made me step away for a few picks. Wasn't sure how long it'd take so I had to set up auto draft and took Carr and Juwan way too early just in case.
I only took Penix in the 20th because I had inadvertently stacked the ATL/WAS game.
QB - Hurts, Carr, Penix
RB - Rhamondre, Swift, Ekeler, Algeier, CEH, Mattison
WR - AJB, Olave, DK, Ridley, Cooks, Meyers, Dotson, Robinson
TE - Pitts, Juwan, Theo

Very nice!
I love the QB room. It has both a ton of upside but also a strong floor.
I just hope Wondale doesn't go off on week 17......Joke!

I'm starting to think Geno could be really good this year. They've always ran the fewest plays and now they should be more high octane with Grubbs.
You should have it all wrapped up by week 14.
Hayden Winks is into Geno. He has him at QB19 ranked 25 spots ahead of ADP.
"145. QB19 Geno Smith - Smith has been 111th and 144th in fantasy points over replacement per game in recent seasons, and 2024 profiles as his best environment for production yet. New Seahawks OC Ryan Grubb called the 8th-highest pass rate and 4th-highest deep pass rate of all Power 5 colleges last season with the Washington Huskies. That's how you put up 300+ yard, 3+ TD games, especially when Smith has three WRs and a TE capable of stretching the field. Since starting for the Seahawks in 2021, Smith has the best completion percentage over expected. If he gets more opportunities in this fantasy-friendly scheme, then Smith can be a borderline QB1 despite being an in-pocket signal caller. Not to mention, the NFC West is loaded with offense."
Here's his full ranking list for anyone who wants to check it out, which he posted an updated list yesterday. They're free.
Since he works for UD, he ranks with UD's best ball ADP in mind, but he also treats it somewhat like redraft. For instance, he's RB and QB heavy relative to UD's current ADP, since a lot of those guys project better than the WRs they're going around given the WR heavy environment. Especially with UD being .5 PPR. So you kind of have to know how to parse them against UD's ADP, but I really like how he adds a lot of player blurbs with stats and info, like with Geno above.
I like Geno as well. What's really nice is how easy it is to correlate the week 17 SEA-CHI game.
What I don't like about Geno is that his ADP is roughly the same as Watson's on DK, and I think Watson has way more upside. He's also just as easy to correlate.
I've been mixing and matching, but will probably end up with more Watson in the end.
Definitely, I like both. And both w17 matchups are intriguing. On UD, I'm at 8% on both Deshaun and Geno.
But there's still a decent chance Deshaun is cooked and/or just quiet quits and continues cashing those checks.
Jefferson’s ADP variance is fascinating to me. In bbm he’s been going #1 a lot and also falling to 7-8. Pretty wild
I have him squarely at 5 but see the upside. It’s just wild to see the spread
Too many 49ers?
Qb - Purdy, Tlaw, Watson
Rb - CMC, Monty, Moss, Chubb, Bigsby
Wr - Aiyuk, D Smith, Cooper, Btjr, Jamo, Pearsall, McMillan
Te - Kittle, Jonnu, Chig

No. You'll get some negative correlation on a weekly basis, but it's good for Best Ball.
Agree with Dgoat that I would have stopped at QB after Trevor. Typically if I get a QB2 before that Cousins/Stafford region then I won't draft a 3rd.
How much playing time do we think Pearsall gets if Aiyuk stays ?
4 skill players is generally my limit, so I think that's fine.
What do we think of the idea of having RBs opposite each other in w17 as negatively correlated? Especially someone like Monty compared to CMC. I.e., if the 49ers are putting up points on the Lions and the Lions are in catchup mode, they'll likely be using Gibbs instead.
I still do it, but I've seen mixed data and analysis on w17 correlation for RBs specifically.
